Ok, since he interviewed Morrissey in 2006 and titled his 1998 book "Girlfriend in a Coma", we've known that Douglas Coupland is a Morrissey fan. My book club recently elected to read his 'Generation X' novel from 1991. At p120 (chapter headed "Why am I poor?"), some characters are bizarrely nick-named 'World Trade Center' They are tall and twins. They are the Morrissey twins.

Pretty much every Coupland novel has a Smiths/Morrissey reference in it. Coupland's lastest novel and one of his better ones, "Player One" has such a mention. I posted that on a another thread somewhere.

However I never knew Coupland interviewed Morrissey. Is there a link lurking?

I thought majority of UK fans read the interview when it was published in 2006.

On reflection it wasn't so much an interview as an account of a meeting - in much the same way that Generation X isn't so much a novel as a series of 'acts' or made-up stories.

Media Whore, don't worry...you aren't the only one who thinks c***ie is a piece of garbage.

My friend Ray used to carry that book around high school and treat it like a bible, he was bananas for it. I never read it. I'd roll my eyes when he'd go on a tangent quoting it's infinite wisdom. "Shut up, Ray." :p
