On May 14, 2019 in Philadelphia, Morrissey is playing a showcase at Non-Comm, which is a convention for public radio folks- a 4-day gathering of public music radio programmers, radio talent, etc.

The 2019 NON-COMMvention is proud to announce that Morrissey will headline the opening night of the conference, performing Tuesday, May 14

Moz will perform in support of his new album of cover songs, called “California Son.” The set will be released May 24th.

Morrissey is currently spinning at NON-COMM radio with his cover of The Pretenders’ Back on the Chain Gang. More covers are on the way from the likes of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, and Roy Orbison.

Morrissey is the first of dozens of artists slated to showcase at the event. Much more to come.

There was a reason I didn't take this seriously back in January when it appeared online - I cannot, for the life of me, remember why though.
The good will out.

He's due to play the Non-Comm gig tonight - it's sold out and is much like a festival.
He's on between other bands .
Only due to play for 45 minutes.

Tacocat is a decent, fun band, but how they got billing over Morrissey is beyond me.

Fun fact: Tacocat spelled backwards is Tacocat.

If he attends tonight - my guess: they are deliberately playing early so the band and crew can get out of there asap and get back to families after a long time away for some.

Also, not to get into a big political thing but worthy of note, I believe: nearly all public and community radio stations in the United States are left-leaning. Or, at the very least, purposefully centrist. They provide a counter-voice to the [very conservative] likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Prager, Carr, etc. that dominate talk programming on commercial airwaves.

Curious what these NON-COMM programmers would make of Morrissey's For Britain support.

As a person who listens to a lot of npr and there affiliates I think they will be a lot more reasonable and less reactionary than some might expect. At least much more composed. You are correct about public radio and amusingly also about tacocat who is the only other act I recognize here. I think the whole thing will go just fine

Why not just take the Broadway money and run?

Go on Morrissey, pull a Nigel and just bring the money to Anne-Marie, like they said, instead of bumming around the US like that.

You don't know what Lennon is capable of when he's angry.
