Morrissey The Musical story on NME.com

Can't see it happening myself. It's a pie in the sky idea. You'd need a lot of financial backing to put a musical on Broadway and I don't think Morrissey's songs have the mainstream appeal.

LOL at how the nme takes an idle bit of dreaming -- "outline in my head" -- and spins it as if were seriously in production -- "in the works". Would we expect no less from the nme?

I think it was a joke, anyway, I mean when Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon said it.

However, I was just thinking how like a musical number "Come Back to Camden" is. They way it builds... very theatrical.

Did anyone else see the Reno 911 movie?

Dangle (played by Lennon), wears a Morrissey shirt for most of the movie.

So, who knows; maybe he really is a fan and wants to do this.

I was up about all night, couldn't sleep because of a major headache,
so I watched some telly lying on the couch in the dark [there is a light
that never goes out:p]

I was surfing on Teletext, and the Dutch popmusic teletext read this moring
also this story, and that Morrissey Himself is doing it.

[also read that Pete's cat is on crack also,, he even made a crackpipe
for the kitten, Doherty becomes the next Cobain, if he dont clean up very soon]

All the Dutch members should copmplain about the incorrect report to Dutch teletext!

Morrissey, The Musical?

I found this info on Yahoo music. It's hard to imagine but if it is written as well as "We Will Rock You" it will be a hit.

Peace!

Morrissey The Musical is on the way

A We Will Rock You-style musical based on Morrissey's songs is currently in the works.

The idea has been conceived by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, who both starred in Reno 911 and wrote the movies Night At The Museum and Balls Of Fury.

Lennon told New York Metro: "I have an outline in my head, like a Mamma Mia- type musical but with the music of Morrissey called I've Changed My Plea To Guilty. It's for a very diehard set of fans."

It is not clear when the musical will open.

For more on Morrissey, check out his NME.com page.

Can't see it getting the financial backing, myself. They're hardly going to stage a broadway musical for a man who can't sell out MSG. (I feel so cruel writing that, sorry - but it is the truth innit?)

The NME. Is that still going?

(For the benefit of Americans and people from Yorkshire: The above comment was sarcastic.)
