Morrissey statement on French election posted on Gustavo's Facebook

Link to Gustavo's Facebook post on May 4 posted by an anonymous person (original post):

"Last night Marine Le Pen easily won the French Election debate.

Today both the BBC and CNN say Macron won the debate.

This is precisely the reason why mainstream news media outlets cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Their private agendas are more important than facts, reality, or their duty to the people."

UPDATE 5:15PM PT:

Amendment added to original post (posted by Ed Wood):

AMENDMENT:

"My statement is that the mainstream media will not objectively or truthfully report on any figure who is not already a part of the political elite. Marine Le Pen is a perfect example of this.
She proves that the BBC or CNN are incapable of reporting without enforcing their own private agenda. Thus, the BBC and CNN do not actually provide news. Instead, they feed your their opinion which, in fact, no one has ever asked for. For example, today the BBC assures the world that 'the nation salutes Prince Phillip' when, factually, it would not be possible to find any nation anywhere that salutes Prince Phillip, or, if it were found, it certainly would not be England."

"Thank you all very much for the support, the opinions, and the attention. They are ALL valid but now, the French people have spoken.
. This post is history now and will be taken down soon. If there are any last words, by all means, scream away. If not, I will resume my personal FB with pictures of my dogs and horrible selfies. XO - g"

"Which is why I think a clarification would be useful. I can't speak on his behalf or never will I. But i do know if he detests [Trump] as much as he does, why would he support a carbon copy in France?" -Gustavo A Manzur, in FB comments

there is absolutely no way that Moz would claim someone he dislikes had won anything, it does not compute or him.
if you dont know that you dont know Moz.

Oh dear, there really are some absolute flipping idiots round here.
This comment is about who won the debate, not about who he supports.
I share your sentiment and take the first post in this thread as a example. A snowflake reacts emotionally without any ability to analyse what Moz actually means.

Moz realises that mainstream media by lying to the masses forces many people to vote for something they wouldn't have voted for had the mainstream media done its job. Everyone out there can find the truth now online from various sources and they do.

I don't agree with Moz politically but I have to hand it to him that he has this ability to distance himself from any debate and see things for what they are. In short he is a unbiased football referee while all the other referees are bribed and corrupted.

Everyone knows she won that debate but the mainstream media have to back Macron and hope that will still make the few that don't get their news from other sources than the mainstream media to vote for Macron. Moz doesn't have to worry as France will not allow Le Pen to become president because Macron has destroyed the socialists and the conservatives and is a new force in french politics and even Le Pen has never been clear on the issue of the european union.

She's still in doubt over France leaving or staying in the EU. Less emotion and more brains would go a long way to help some people understand what Moz is saying.

Herm, even Le Pen's supporters consider she completely lost it.
Errrm, no not at all. Keep your private wishes to yourself. Moz included people like you in this attack on media.

Did you ever notice how people don't get Morrissey's sense of humor? He made a joke about how certain types try to spin things as fake news. He knows that lady lost. Did you really think The Wild Turkey didn't get the fake news joke?

No, I have watched debates when the person whom I oppose clearly had the upper hand rhetorically. In those situations a normal person says, "it was distressing to me to see Person A out-argue Person B". You make your position against them clear. By not doing this, Morrissey is letting us know that he is sympathetic to Le Pen's argument to some extent. These, of course, fits together nicely with his implicit endorsement of Nigel Farage.
yes, opinions and speculations. In your first post you said there was an impression given and I said people as stated by the posts already given in this thread that the impressions given will vary with each reader/poster.

'In those situations a normal person says,'

normal ?

'In those situations a normal person says, "it was distressing to me to see Person A out-argue Person B".

In that situation a 'normal' person could also say.. 'it was distressing to me to see Person A out-argue Person B, and even though I don't agree with Person A on everything/anything, I got to hand it to him/her that they are good at debating.'

'You make your position against them clear. By not doing this, Morrissey is letting us know that he is sympathetic to Le Pen's argument to some extent.'

' is letting us know' ? really? I don't see it.
I'm not saying you're wrong or right. I'm just saying it is all speculation, we don't know the truth.

Again, until M makes a statement of explanation we just don't really know.

I don’t see what about “she easily won the debate” says “I disagree with her”. Surely, if you think someone won a debate you agree with some of their viewpoints.

BTW, he leads her by 18 points today. Even her supporters say she bombed.
'I don’t see what about “she easily won the debate” says “I disagree with her”.'

you're right, it doesn't.

'Surely, if you think someone won a debate you agree with some of their viewpoints.'

I feel it's too easy to form that kind of opinion, but not wrong to have that opinion. Though for sake of argument, let's suppose he does agree with some of the viewpoints, but before you collect the wood and matches and tie him to a stake, I feel it would only be fair to hear him out on what viewpoints he agrees with and how those could be a good thing if implemented and in what way?

Anyways... with Macron's victory, maybe he could finally get 'ITMAAP' re-released. :thumb:

He didn't say he was in favor of lynching, he just said he thinks they used nice rope.

'It certainly gives the impression'

it could give the impression both ways.

'I think it's time he made a statement clarifying his position.'

Maybe he would just prefer that people make up their own minds.

It would be easier for everyone here and the world at large if he did make such a statement or statements explaining himself, but until then... we are all just left to speculation and assumption ... which will never lead us to the truth.
Your "explanations" are always complete nonsense.
"Black could be white. Or maybe M just wants people to consider the difference and see it for themselves. Since he rarely makes coherent statements we can't really know."
