Macclesfield yesterday with Johnny Lord (from Facebook). So, not in LA! OK let's see if I can post this image.

So, not a fawning fan, but were you at least a very cool fan or perhaps their window cleaner? Something about your picture brings Roy's Keen to mind, I don't know why!The one universally positive thing I can say about all my interactions with the Manchester Moz inner circle back then (late 90s - Moz, Betty, Linder, Jackie etc) is that they were all delightful. Kind, warm, funny, engaging.
I think it really helped that my interactions weren't presented from the context of fawning fandom.
That said, I've hung out with all other members of the Smiths separately at various Manchester events and they've all been sound too, (unlike some of Moz's solo band personnel). The most congenial, controversially, was Mike Joyce. He'll sit and talk to you forever.
Maybe it's because he thinks he's on 25% of what you're making though.
I'd have much more interesting stories to tell if I was the window cleanerSo, not a fawning fan, but were you at least a very cool fan or perhaps their window cleaner? Something about your picture brings Roy's Keen to mind, I don't know why!
Wow, nice story and so wonderful to have met them all: Moz, his family (also his nèpes?), Linder and the other Smiths. I suppose you are rferring to Jesse as an ‘unsound’ solo band membe, because from all we know, Alain is a gentleman and Boz is down to eart. The one universally positive thing I can say about all my interactions with the Manchester Moz inner circle back then (late 90s - Moz, Betty, Linder, Jackie etc) is that they were all delightful. LOve the fact that MOz has a paper straw in his glass
That guy next to him looks like Tommy Cooper with that pink fez
My intelligence people informed meI think that was his mate or nephews glass, Moz was drinking Helles Lager according to the guy who met him.
The most shocking/sensational thing I can report is that he had elastoplasts across both writs that day, covered by his shirt sleeves. I assume he burnt himself on a baking tray, but who knows? I didn't ask.
I've kind of imagined Morrissey as being a nicer person than some people say he is, it's good to know. I agree it makes a difference if you don't approach as a fawning fan, I have met and become friends with a few musicians and bands and it's kind of hard to maintain the friendships because of the nature of things, but I could tell they always appreciated the fact that my husband and I just acted like regular people around them and treated them like regular people, except maybe one who wanted to be treated like a giant rockstarThe one universally positive thing I can say about all my interactions with the Manchester Moz inner circle back then (late 90s - Moz, Betty, Linder, Jackie etc) is that they were all delightful. Mike is also finically level as wellI've kind of imagined Morrissey as being a nicer person than some people say he is, it's good to know. Seeing Mike Joyce interviewed, he does actually seem level headed and pleasant.
Money absolutely is not the answer everyone thinks it is. It really isn't. Belonging, fellow-feeling and compassion are far more important, in my experienceCan anyone imagine having all of your dreams come true famous at a young age loved all over the world for what you do, Despite this how do you cope with it ? Camelot employ counsellors to help people who are suddenly rich through the lottery. Everyone dreams of being rich and famous but it comes at a price as many of its victims will tell you if they are still alive. Morrissey has coped well and has shown alot of dignity throughout, he was lucky to have his mothers support in those early years when fame came so quickly.
Didn’t you mention your Rolex yesterday?Money absolutely is not the answer everyone thinks it is. It really isn't. Belonging, fellow-feeling and compassion are far more important, in my experience
I'd love to have a few million to test the theory out, though. Wouldn't we all.Money absolutely is not the answer everyone thinks it is. It really isn't. Belonging, fellow-feeling and compassion are far more important, in my experience
You’ve just shattered everyone’sNot sure if it's relevant here but years ago I had way too much disposable income and used to treat myself by buying sweaters for £450 or whatever from Liberty, Selfridges etc. Now I have almost none but I get the exact same thrill by treating myself to a 3-pack of pants for £7 from Sainsburys.
