We all get that everyone is allowed to vote. The trouble is that what we're being asked to vote for are a bunch of crooks of one persuasion or another. There are a straighter bunch running Italy.

That's why we have seen the rise to differing degrees of prominence of three some might say equally unpleasant parties in Ukip, the Greens and the SNP. Things are changing, and that change comes about gradually from the streets through the ballot box, not with bricks and molotov cocktails.

The question the hard left needs to ask itself is why it continues to be shunned at the ballot box. The answer is not difficult and has nothing whatsoever to do with the Fox News, the Daily Mail or the Stonecutters. The last time the Labour Party stood on anything approaching a Socialist manifesto, in 1983, it got absolutely hammered. The same agenda today would do better, but would still struggle to produce a majority in the house.

A little constructive criticism...prefacing with I love you.

Okay.

"The present system is entirely and absolutely authoritarian – and nothing else. Electing the least of a hideous bunch always leads us to precisely the same unhappy place. The idea of a single President or Prime Minister is ludicrous to me, because you are absolutely giving the divine right to a single individual to do what they please to other living beings, and to define rights and wrongs, and to carry out such dealings away from any public scrutiny."

Authoritarian Regime is to people as Morrissey is to band.

Do these lads look particularly happy to be wearing this statement? Boz's auntie with her Diana Plate collection, Jesse's mom with her copy of People on the coffee table about to read about baby George, Gustavo who doesn't really "hate" anything...granted they are being paid to represent Morrissey's agenda, the payola always comes from somewhere, vote or no vote.

Do you see what I'm saying? So extending the syllogism, if Morrissey is to Dicatator as Label is to people, isn't this what he wants?

" Ultimately the head of Harvest DID have an idea … which was “let’s get rid of Morrissey”… unfathomably silly."

There are gaps in his logic, but he's on the right path.

You can't fight the concept of regime while you're running a regime. It's classic ouroboros. Morrissey won't make any progress until he retires, which seems ironic but he has an outlet beyond singing to crowds to effect change. I'm still not convinced no vote is the answer. I'm a DAR, I may never be convinced of that.

And most importantly, how is your health in general?

I don’t manage to remain very balanced! I’ve suffered from Chronic Cancelitis for several years, and I feel intensely melancholic every day. So much so that I have announced another comeback tour, same old shit except aimed at the European audience because the Yanks have wised up to me and I need to get outa town quick stix .
Yes I will cancel ! I don't give a shit and they (the lemmings) know it
Anyway did I tell you I'm a humasexual ? Yes I've got a new song called 'penabumvag' and it's the best song I have ever written and it's going to be global, Harvest records will be kicking themselves. Oh no!!!!!! BLACK ! BLACK ! Everything is BLACK ! I really must go now it's all going BLACK I tell you. BLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

And off he went !

Brilliant

If you are seen on the streets in England you must always account for why you are outside – I don’t mean politically, I just mean generally. In America, anyone walking along the street is thought to be up to no good. In England we are always enclosed, and usually zombified in front of a television. In Istanbul and Rome I can walk and walk and walk, and I love to see groups of older people sitting around in squares or cafes just … doing nothing. In England you can’t sit anywhere unless you buy something, and America is the same. Unless you buy four bottles of wine you’re obliged to leave. I also love societies where different age groups mix naturally, and I find this so in Turkey, and it’s very important and rewarding. England and America look upon senior citizens as a problem

Has anyone told him its probably down to the climate and the fact they've got crap TV on the Mediterranean Coast?

Re: Morrissey: "the last thing security forces ever want is peaceful protest"

Wow, this is a GREAT interview! I wonder if it was done verbally or in writing. His replies are much longer and more in-depth than usual. His tone here is different, too—less anger, which means more clarity and breadth to the points he's trying to make.

Thanks for posting this, Anonymous!!

Agree 100%. Moz speaks very well and comes across as willing to answer the questions. The tone is like two people sitting down for a beer and having a relaxed chat. Obviously Moz thrives in interviews like this where the journalist doesn't have an agenda. Great interview indeed (apart from Moz's parting comment!)

"My own view is that it doesn’t matter how you break through as long as you have something to say, but, of course, it can’t be a coincidence that all of the major artists in the mainstream music chart have absolutely nothing to say and are utterly servile!"

Thank you for this. It's so important to make distinctions. Reading this gave me a "whew" feeling.

Bluebirds = Benny?

Benny is not a funny person. I honestly can't imagine anyone laughing at his jokes.
There are funny people, and then there are very loud people.

No mate - definitely not one and the same. I've got better things to do with my life than post anonymous comments purporting to be a.n.other user. :thumb:

I thought his last comment was amusing. Because it rings quite true. I even know where he nicked the "black bit" from but I still found it funny.

I also find some of the other people who you probably think ar every loud quite amusing at times too. Ho hum c'est la vie

Are you blind? This entire interview has an agenda, I've never read a more scripted and leading-the-witness interview ever. It's fake. Is it well written? Yes. But it's as fake as an American Idol audition. I bet you a REAL pitcher of beer Morrissey wrote the flippin' questions too. :D

Good point.

Maybe he is feeling his age a little bit more than usual. Isn't that a natural thing? Maybe he feels the new album is worth bringing to audiences and I agree with that. He loves singing to an audience. Why wouldn't he want to do some concerts this year. Why wouldn't we, as fans, welcome that with open arms? I do.
People who have kids are often very tired but it doesn't stop them having more. Music is Morrissey's lifeblood.

I am damn pleased he is touring his magnificent new album. Anything less would have been criminal.

I would prefer questions like this even if written by Moz over stupid questions about Smiths reunions any day of the week. I thought it was a good interview. I don't care if Morrissey's mother spent twenty years coming up with the questions. When I said 'agenda' you knew I meant some stupid music rag out to get a cheap headline about the freakiness of Morrissey. Obviously all questions are biased by the person asking them. Would you prefer a machine to ask him random words and hope he comes up with something witty as a reply?
By the way I am not blind. I have 20-20 vision but thanks for asking.

Sorry it's getting late here, Friday night. Provably more aggressive in my comment above than I wanted to be.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Isn't that the adult version of "the dog ate my homework"?

It's not a question of left and right, I find the whole definition and positioning tiresome. It's a question of accountability, corruption and the level of actual democracy that we have.

You always seem to think my anger at what we have is to do with my political positioning, it really isn't. I think as individuals and collectively we need as much autonomy as possible and with every year that passes I think we have less and less. I don't have a problem with Capitalism as such but I do with abuses of power. Is an abuse of power worse if it's by a Communist or a Capitalist? I don't see any difference.

He's 100% wrong about not voting. Not voting lets in well-drilled goons like UKIP.

P.

You are a perfect example of someone who has been brain washed by the system. Whoever you vote for, you are voting in a system to elect a government to serve the monarchy. However you want to dress it up, by voting, it makes you a royalist, and shows that you support the current process. Fact. It is you who is 100% wrong.... which is oft the case.

Pardon me. I do not have 20/20 vision because I have a vagina.
