so ive been reading this at the moment and its very interesting. they have interviews with him from his days in the smiths up until ringleader all placed in chronological order and its extremely interesting when reading them in order to see the evolution of the man and his thoughts so i decided to find them online and place them in order here. the editor of the book is paul woods and was put out in 2007 by plexus and well worth seeking imo. worth a look as he seems to address a lot of topics that still get discussed here today. of course the hardcore lovers will know all of these and what they contain but i think its worth it to the newer fans to see what he says in his owns words about his life and career as a singer cultural icon

ok so these re "the essential interviews from the eithties featured in the book and its very interesting just how much morrissey hasnt changed in so many ways. ill post the essential interviews from the 1990s a bit latter after i feed this crying boy at my side. laterz and enjoy. also of note the ninties interviews are the really interesting ones imo where its very clear he has come of aged and did in fact start to change, well, for morrissey at least

and now those from the nineties. i really wanted to find the one with steven daily from spin 1991 but couldnt on casual search and i dont really wanna work to hard at this as its just supposed to be fun insight into how hes progressed over the years but it did mention his reaction to thatcher being brought down from power and it was interesting for hin to say that he thought he public beheading was strange and very unenglish. also talks about asian rut and bemoans why others dont speak about the large asian population alreadyn in britton when the interviewer says the subject matter uncommon. also say geoff in platforems which i thought was funny. these are all still from the book but if anyone has those i cant find or just wants to add some interesting ones please do. it might be nice to have an interview archive here, there probably aready was one but this will be easier for new people to find for a bit until it sinks, just for reference and maybe to draw some people in there google searches ec. anyway enjoy if you do

nme 1991 with stuart maconnie
http://www.rocksbackpages.com/Library/Article/morrissey-comes-out-for-a-drink

talks about peole sayoing his solo records arent as good as the smiths and he mentions that this logic is not applied to other ex smiths projects and that he thinks there output over valued. also says that people consider him to be the smiths and that he wouldnt disagree though he wishes to bury the dad cat

q 1992 adrian deevoy
http://www.rocksbackpages.com/Library/Article/morrissey-ooh-i-say

talks about his sorta removing himself from the public eye and talks about not being the person who wrote hand in glove and being more self reliant and no longer a desperate person. talks about the sexual innuendo of your arsenal, racism in england, talks about missing england and being a patriot which im sure we all know has now changed and come to full fruition.

select 1994 with Andrew Harrison
http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~moz/quotes/glove.htm

talks about brit pop and mentions suede not paying dues which is absolute crap since anyone who knowa them for sure knows how hard they worked but there sudden rise could appear like that i suppose but its probably more to do with what brett said in the press. talks about his dropping his efforts to permanently self actualize. also tlaks about making up with marr and that if they did write together again according to marr it wouldnt the smiths so im guessing marr also was interested in cutting andy and joyce out.he talks about being happy here as well

q 1995 iwth maconnie again
http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~moz/quotes/qsep1995.htm

talks about being rich and the working class having no future and the nature of fame and his ecperinces with it. the southpaw era and liking oasis. also mentions his fading love of paul weller and cobains suicide.

the interviewer competing with moz seems to have hit a new limit here. talks about his fans questionsing his vezing sexuality in which he replies that it doesnt vex him much and that he likes that people think him a non sexual person. this is really a boring one in which nithing is really said except that moz is very much a grown up.

morrissey in super happy mood declraing himself to very unpredictable and honestly its a really funny interview which shows how much at ease he was with himself here in this time. talks about people taking his songs meanings to mean more than there meant to but of course this could just be him being funny as hes extremely on in this one. talks about using a computer again with the song wide to receive. talks about being to old for brit pop and the public contradiction of him beign derided for the union jack while the likes of oasis and the spice girls would be praised for it just a few years later as essential to there acts. hes very defencive also about his private love life which suggests something i think, probaly jake walters. talks about being happy and enjoying himself and life. talks about his feeling for the old smiths songs changing and to him not liking half of them and that if he wanted people to hear the best of him he would play arsenal vauxhal or maladjusted (omitting right i think south paw).

this part i feel the need to quote

"There were so many creative ideas around The Smiths that came from my head and no one else's. Apart from singing, creating vocal melodies and lyrics, and titles, and record sleeves, and doing interviews, there was always more to consider. Most of the pressure fell on my shoulders."

and that the end of the nineties interviews featured in the book. it was interesting to me as many of these topics are still discussed to today by many people. hope people enjoy reading
