Hope you all don't mind my sharing this here. My Morrissey cover band is at the Pill tonight. Some of you might have seen us to this a couple years ago for Moz's birthday at Great Scott. It's not that awful!

Anyway...

Due to the blizzard and re-scheduling conflicts, Unhappy Birthday's set as the Smiths + Morrissey (originally planned for last weekend's WFNX Nothing Feels Good pre-Valentine's Day party) will go down this Friday at the pill. Doors at 10, the cover is $5, and pill residents DJ Ken + Michael V spin the modern indie dance party before and after the band.

Full details, from http://www.thepillboston.com/...

Morrissey doesn’t turn 54-years-young until May, but that doesn’t mean the pill can’t have an Unhappy Birthday in the middle of February. Join us this week for a post-Valentine’s Day spectacular as Unhappy Birthday – Boston’s leading Smiths + Morrissey tribute supergroup, featuring members of the Good North, the Sheila Divine, the Dirty Truckers, Vic Firecracker, and others – crash the pill stage in a fit of fresh gladiolas and stale broken hearts.

Unhappy Birthday were supposed to perform at the WFNX party Nothing Feels Good last weekend at Radio, but were snowed out as a result of Nemo’s Blizzard of (anti-)Moz, so we’re very happy to accommodate their specialized set here with us at Great Scott.

And because we’re in the Manchester spirit, this Friday we’ll also be giving away a signed copy of Peter Hook’s new book, Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, at the end of the night. Hooky signed it when he was in town last week, and we were going to give it away this past Friday, but the storm wreaked havoc on those plans as well.

In fact, about the only thing that went on as planned last weekend was the pill, and we thank everyone who braved the storm and partied with us on the first. But for many, including a return to pill form, this week is one giant make-up date, and cabin fever is reaching plague-like levels.

So join us Friday for the pill return of Unhappy Birthday, a show (hopefully) uninterrupted by the weather, and the night’s residents DJ Ken and Michael V holding down the modern indie dance party before and after the band.

As an added bonus, we’re also welcoming back to town frequent pill flyer model and one-time pill first lady Kayley Kravitz, who is in Boston visiting for the weekend from San Francisco, and will wonder loudly why there’s so much god-damn electro-pop in the playlist these days. We’ll try to throw in some Mansun and Menswear just for her.

Good times all around. See you Friday; look sharp.
