I think Morrisseys' politics were quite open and clear throughout his career. The title "Margaret on the Guillotine" says it all really. The 80's were a terrible time in the U.K for those affected by Thatcherism(basically all working class people) Thatcher was,of course, great friends with that other well known right wing bully Reagan. The Smiths also played at "Rock against Racism"(yes, really)in London and Glastonbury(where all proceeds go to Greenpeace" .
Like many others from Labour heartlands Moz is a bit disillusioned with Tony Blair but he is better than what we had before.
Morrissey was also widely quoted at the time of the Brighton bomb bemoaning the fact that the IRA did not wipe out the Tory cabinet of the time.
Of course, it saddens everyone that Moz has chosen to life in a country that used to typify all the greed and hate he used to so often speak out against
"there are some bad people on the right"
MORRISSEY COME HOME!!!
