Morrissey airport security incident CCTV video posted - Gawker

Re: Morrissey Airport Incident Video

Seriously, in this post 9/11 world, if you go on public record saying you've got explosive kegs down there, you can expect the airport staff to be a little extra thorough.

Morrissey might even welcome it being posted, possibly. To some extent, it vindicates his comments.

Why has this even been posted? A total invasion of privacy.

Agreed.

As much as Morrissey is a big boy now and will probably brush this off, nobody ever really stops to think of the impact something like this might have on somebody.
To outward appearances this is something we should watch, and rightly watch to vilify the TSA gaurd's Morrissey rightly or wrongly has accused of molestation.
However a few grainy minutes of undecipherable footage of what we've come to learn was quite a demeaning moment for Morrissey isn't going to change anything should we view it.
Websites like Gawker get a rush of blood to the head (and other regions too...) when they post things like this, from the seemingly ivory vantage point of the moral high ground.
This is no different to salacious tittle tattle found on the front page of magazines like Hello! or Now! etc, and should be treated as such until Morrissey himself presents the footage for whatever reasoning.
This is just voyeurism, and although many of us would probably love for the world to see us getting our privates fondled across the internet, it's not something you should just assume.

In my opinion its a mountain/molehill situation. I've been more assaulted at three separate Morrissey concerts by barrier perverts copping a feel or trying to pick my pockets and going down my jeans. Their uniform was a quiff and a black Morrissey tshirt. Then again I'm not a world-famous singer so it doesn't matter. :p

They need to treat people with more respect, just because you are flying in an airplane doesn't give them the right to be perverts.

The post is not an invasion of privacy. The post of the video heals. The fate of many would change for the better if all sexual abuses could be published. Publicity repairs and prevent further damage. Morrissey gave details of this abuse during Larry King's interview and he was very explicit about it. He was molested by the deed, not by its publicity. Some people didn't believe him, as if someone could lie with these matters.

Indeed, studies have shown that nothing helps victims of sexual abuse better or faster than their neighbours being able to see footage of the abuse on demand. What, after all, is PornHub for?

To be fair, he's the one that brought it to the public's attention first when he posted that letter about it. If he hadn't had done that and settled the matter privately, nobody would have ever even heard about this. You can argue that his privacy was slightly violated but so what? This doesn't show him doing anything scandalous or dubious, in fact it probably helps his case somewhat because now all of the naysayers that claim he was just making it up/delusional can see there there is a POSSIBILITY something unacceptable might have happened. There is no denying the footage is a bit average and the bad angle makes it difficult to clearly see what took place, but the TSA agent was down in that lower section for quite some time, there is no denying that! But don't be so dramatic, this isn't exactly a Jay Z/Beyone/Solange elevator video is it?

There is nothing unusual about this video. The scanner probably picked up something underneath the tunic he is wearing..perhaps an overly ornamental belt.

True. THat's half the battle.

My meat and two veg have been manhandled more than this at many a security patdown, including at some Morrissey shows. What's the problem?

Morrissey doesn't talk shit about the US government as much as he talks about the Brit government and the "hillbilly royals"

This is just further evidence that Morrissey is not gay. A gay man would not be so upset that a gay TSA agent went down on his knees like he was going to suck his dick. I have never seen a TSA go down on their knees during a pat down. Anonymous-

Testing for explosives.
That'll teach him to admit his Irish heritage

This is the reason why I hate you Brits and other assorted Euro trash on this board. This is so English. Isn't there some board where you people can talk about Morrissey and incorporate kickball and where to get the best deal on line for an authentic New York Yankees baseball cap?

Racist pig

Ireland is one of only very few countries that is trusted to have security / customs pre-clearance carried out in Dublin,
before you fly so you don't have to wait for ages to have it done when you land in USA
Not even Bush's bum boy Blair could swing that for the UK
