Morrissey A-Z: "World Peace Is None of Your Business"

and if you zoom in close to his leg you can see a pile of dog shite.

Well it's evident the human was squatting a minute before that pic was taken, and it wasn't to look at a mushroom.
I never thought you would accuse an innocent dog without any proof like that, Carl.

...I'm so upset I feel I should go see if it's still there, collect it and send it to a lab for analysis.(not a labrador, they're clueless about science, bless them).

Good luck 👊

Punching me isn't going to help the detective work...
It’s a fist bump....
I’m trying to be down with the kidz.
Anyhow enjoy ratching about for dog shite..
Surely you must have better thing to do this afternoon? 🥂🍸🕺🏼💃🏻💏

I'm only sorry that you had to wait until near the end of the A-Z to get this off your chest!
Oh brother, I’ve been saving up! I am finally a free man. I can finally breathe!

I really like this song and agree with the lyrics. The whole rich get richer and poor get poorer is an effect of capitalism no matter how cliche and its happening in a big way right now. Politics might not be the answer to this when money drives much of it often reducing departments like the police to rabble control. The song is about capitalism (i consider corrupt authoritarian socialist/communist countries to be free market capitalism) at its heart and how it can’t solve social issues in the way we want it to at least in its current form and is perilously close to being eaten by money. Equality isnt the business of capitalism, politics shouldnt be driven by business and money but it is run by the same capitalists and so a vote for either is a vote for the same status quo. Peace isnt the capitalists business because it doesn’t make the money that war does. At its heart it’s not really a political song but rather it’s about moral decline (and in a democracy that means a political decline) and global authoritarian capitalism.

Musically I also love it. The way the intro delivers the song to the bells and whistles and the ornamentation of the sound. It’s got an intriguing pace and melody sliding all over the place then sustaining. It’s a good song

"Brazil and Bahrain
Egypt, Ukraine
So many people in pain"

Has there ever been a worse Morrissey lyric than this?

-Well that's a relief. I think in the future we should stick to elbow bumps to avoid confusion with boxing matches tho.
-Sadly no. Nothing better to do. Mopping up human piss was my daily routine for two years so traveling down the road in search of dog shite sounds like an exciting step up right now. But I didn't go in the end, the sofa was too comfy.

I’m throwing my arms around Paris, perhaps?
See, even if we disagree one day, we'll always have Paris! The second shittiest song in the universe! :highfive:

This song is just typical of Morrissey's range to me,everyone here surely can appreciate his refusal to "sing the same song "?I like the whole album and enjoyed the tour. The simple fact that he is still producing new quality music stuns me.

What were they trying to do at the start?

Does anyone else remember when it first appeared in a Q&A in 2014 on true-to-you.net before the release of WPINOYB?

Q: I think a lot of young people, including myself, find it hard to be truly themselves. Your music has helped me immensely on this issue. What would your advice be to the younger generation on how to accept yourself?
RÓISÍN, Dunfermline.

A: I don't think we ever do! I think we all die feeling apologetic and embarrassed. I'm as much of a mess now as I was when I was 16. There are too many forces telling us we aren't good enough - music critics, bank managers, the police, the judiciary, ex-wives ... do you have the nerve to tell them all to get stuffed? That's the only thing that will do it. The sociological arrangements of the western world rely exclusively on people NOT being their true selves. Otherwise, they couldn't be governed and frightened and lost and timid – as most people unfortunately are. You can't control people by telling them to be themselves. As soon as people decide to be themselves, the police reach for their stun guns, and governments roll out the tanks ... Egypt, Bahrain, Thailand, Brazil, Ukraine, Syria ... the very last thing we are encouraged to be is ourselves. This is why it's always so shocking when someone stands up and gives an honest opinion. In all cases, such people are criticized by the print media, but never applauded.

A great piece of music (well done Boz) but ruined by some exceptionally foolish lyrics. Like Dog on a Chain, it's such a shame that a really good album was named after its worst song.
