The above poster sums it up neatly: there’s a vulnerability in the original that is lost here. Whereas Morrissey is perfectly able to express vulnerability in his own songs and we love him for it. That is so disappointing. It leaves me thinking that he does not really connect with the emotion of the song - a feeling that is reinforced when he even changes the words - and that he is just doing his little tribute to Lou in a mechanical way.
