Morrissey Central "Mexico City" - dengue infection will take 2-3 weeks to clear; tour to resume in Florida (September 10, 2023)

Looks like he caught Dengue Fever - all shows cancelled until Florida on 7 October. All South American dates cancelled.

Morrissey’s arrival in Mexico City has resulted in a dengue infection. The virus will take 2-3 weeks to clear.

The tour is set to resume in Florida.

Morrissey has not ‘cancelled’ any shows, but the infection makes the immediate two weeks impossible.

This is so funny, searched Morrissey Dengue and this page came up from 2007, it's a web site showing what's on in LA - you couldn't make this up :ROFLMAO:

Me pregunto si este fue el mismo mosquito que le hizo cancelar el concierto en Nottingham.

Yes it sucks. South America is the place where he has the largest fanbase, judging by the size of the venues that he sold out. Lets hope he reschedules the tour in 2024.
I really hope so.
I wasn’taware that Dengue fever is still an issue in Mexico City.
Seems it isn't very common there. Maybe he travelled elsewhere in Mexico these days, or maybe he just had really bad luck...

The post on Central says that he picked up the infection upon arrival in Mexico City. We just don’t know when he arrived. So really bad luck then.

This situation has a very strong echo of 2013's cancelled South American tour.
In situ with the band prior, illness, Dr.'s orders, postponed gigs (subsequently denied by tour manager & general confusion) then awaiting new dates & ultimately cancelled all 14.
The only major difference was the "funding" problem cited in '13.
Still, there's always. "41 years of Morrissey" should they actually reschedule.

I had this illness when I was in Mexico, started with stiffness in my arms and legs, then a weird rash on my arms. After a few days I had a fever and was hallucinating that there was a giant bird outside of my window and I was waking in the night thinking I was surrounded by people doing medical experiments on me.

Funnily enough, once I started getting a little better I listened to a lot of music, and whilst searching for YouTube videos of old British bands to make me feel less homesick, this is how I originally discovered The Smiths.

I hope he gets better soon, Dengue is a nasty business.
That sounds like a serious if occasionally entertaining dose you got. That 'skeeter'; such a little thing, but the difference...

The rash is apparently the characteristic symptom, and the risk of bleeding the main worry, which is why aspirin shouldn't be taken. I guess enough fluids and nutritious food speed recovery?

Someone I know who set up services in Malawi to help AIDS orphans says neem is commonly used against infections including dengue. Ivermectin's effective too. Yes, I know. Cancelled. The sort of thing that according to the The Washington Times, irks a gathering bevy of celebrities, among whom Morrissey is one:

Others like British singer Morrissey agree, with the former frontman for The Smiths warning last year of the “lethal” impact that comes from people being perpetually offended by everything while also simultaneously purporting to know it all.
“Now everybody is an expert critic, everybody is an expert scientist; they know everything,” he said in an interview at the time. “They have the chance to review everything and destroy people, and if they can get their friends to join in and make a campaign of ‘let’s get rid of such-a-body.’”
Morrissey mentioned famed “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling, who has found herself in a ceaseless state of cancellation over her comments and beliefs about elements of the transgender movement.
“They desperately need to find a witch,” the singer said. “They have to find somebody who is disgraceful and horrible and blah, blah, blah.”

Sympathies to the many truly disappointed folk 😢 🫖 🤟

So he cancels 7 gigs in the Latin part of the world which are all or mostly sold out. But it’ll all be ok for half empty venues in the US which will be by and large made up by a bunch of zombies. Makes sense.

Odd how these illness excuses keep happening, isn't it?
Oh for f*** sake stfu. Just goes to show what a horrible nasty little prick you are when a guy contracts DF and this is your only reaction. Once again, you are seriously unwell if you still can't walk away at this point. It's an unhealthy obsession
