Morrissey Central "Mexico City" - dengue infection will take 2-3 weeks to clear; tour to resume in Florida (September 10, 2023)

Looks like he caught Dengue Fever - all shows cancelled until Florida on 7 October. All South American dates cancelled.

Morrissey’s arrival in Mexico City has resulted in a dengue infection. The virus will take 2-3 weeks to clear.

The tour is set to resume in Florida.

Morrissey has not ‘cancelled’ any shows, but the infection makes the immediate two weeks impossible.

obviously M will be stuck in his bed for the next week or so,do the band abandon ship and go home.
would imagine they would still be paid through tour insurance and so they should.
In Mexico I Went For A Walk And Caught Dengue Fever.

still ? o_O Let it go, buddy.

THE NOTTINGHAM VENUE CURSE!

Could be BoT’s runout groove message if it ever gets a vinyl release.
I'd like that very much. I just presumed that both bands took a look at the Nottingham inner ring road and thought, 'feck that'. James seem to be willing to give it another go. Mugs.

You can believe I told this man that he should get vaccinated against everything, dengue yellow fever and everything that exists...... It is evident that you do not have a good medical advisor there is a vaccine against the.virus that causes dengue. Before the tour I told him!! I really made a comment...... He is stubborn and vaccine denier!!! So if they suggest it, maybe they wouldn't be applied
Infos from a friend of mine who's an immunologist:
+) The problem with Dengvaxia (the first vaccine available against Dengue) is that it works excellently as an immune booster if you have had Dengue before. If you haven't, it's much less effective. There's a new vaccine though which, while not being a miracle drug, works way better than Dengvaxia.
+) There's another problem with Dengue: Getting Dengue for the first time often poses no major health threat whereas catching it another time can be a real problem. Of course we don't know if Moz has had Dengue before, perhaps he caught it without even realizing. If, however, he had had it before, had trouble with it back then, and did not get that vaccine prior to touring Dengue-ridden places though, he's, quote friend, "a bit of an idiot". (I didn't tell him why I was asking about Dengue and Dengue-related health issues. He's not that much into music and the music he does listen to is true shyte, so even if I had disclosed the reason for my sudden interest in Dengue fever, he wouldn't have known who Morrissey is anyway.)

There's nothing saying that MORRISSEY has it. Curiously it does not mention Morrissey having it at all. Could be any one of the band. I've no doubt we're meant to think it's Morrissey who has it though.

Well, now I won't be able to see it...... I'm hot!! But well Moz your health comes first, it is not a serious disease but you must do what the doctors ask you, it is a disease that occurs as febrile syndrome but that gives many muscle and bone joint pains fever and headache, it also affects coagulation so you should avoid all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, that is, all those who are like aspirin, from the aspirin family. You can take paracetamol for pains depending on the state of the liver. There are three phases of the disease, the most severe is rare, but you should be well aware of the symptoms. This disease comes from Africa and in the UK the vaccine is on sale... Now the important thing is that Moz does not be bitten again with another mosquito because if it has a virus of another strain the complications towards hemorrhagic dengue usually happen and are serious. Look, I told him to get vaccinated, huh

There’s no vaccine in the UK?

"Morrissey has not ‘cancelled’ any shows" - yet no rescheduled information or even a suggestion of said like yesterday.
That will be because 7 concerts won't fit between New York & Singapore with travel and logistics (nor at the end of the Australian run as it will clash with Xmas).
So in reality, probably 'cancelled'.
FWD.
I wonder why they're that eager to point out there's no cancellation going on. Perhaps some major insurance issue.

By God being in an endemic area for dengue and other things... In summer, no one told him that he had to use mosquito repellent!! Who is the doctor who takes care of Morrissey who does not explain the prevention with vaccines and at least take care of himself with adequate measures such as repellent

That’s what I was thinking.
The Central post can also be read as stating that it was Morrissey’s arrival in Mexico City that caused the infection. Lol. He should have snuck in, without all the fanfare.

Why on earth would the band go home? God knows they need the extra rehearsal time.

Maybe just boot the whole South America tour and re-schedule it for 1 year's time?

Im not sure if it says that Morrissey is the individual on the tour specifically affected. Although he's clearly the least replaceable...

I hope M and the band and touring team are ok and feel better soon.

Although I don't know much about Dengue, I was a bit surprised as M doesn't seem too much of the outdoorsy type...but perhaps they are everywhere.
