IN BRIEF
* OTHER SIDE OF SOUND sound so melodic, structured and surreal that it's proven a difficult task to label them under a genre. In a recent interview by Step Up, when asked where they thought the direction of music would go in the future the band stressed the essential return of melody in the British music scene, which is reflected in their own innovative sound and sell out shows that keep attracting new devoted fans and a faithful voluntary team, and premiering new directions to modern music. With interest from labels such as Fiction Records, BMG and Polydor 2006 will be there year - http://www.myspace.com/othersideofsound

* OMERTA - Omerta combine synths, strings, bleeps and beeps, cutting guitar and a solid rhythm section to create music that engages both melodically and lyrically delivered by a "heart wrenching" vocal. Their sound has drawn comparisons with Radiohead and The Killers amongst others.

April 2005 year saw the band release their debut double A-side single Everyone is Frozen on a limited 7" run and stockists were forced to restrict purchase to only one copy per customer in the interests of public order. In only two hectic days stocks in Manchester and London had disappeared. Fans who were too late made brave bids on eBay for up to 15 times the disc's original value.

It is hardly surprising if you consider that before the first piece of vinyl had been pressed "Everyone Is Frozen" had been playlisted on XFM, chosen as record of the week by Claire Sturgess and been recommended by Steve Lamacq on his BBC 6Music show. On being invited to record a live session for XFM by Sturgess shortly after this first release, they became one of only three unsigned bands to have been bestowed the honour. - http://www.myspace.com/omertamusic

* ELLWOOD - In 2006 the band have received Radio airplay and have been tipped for success by Ex-Inspiral Carpets keys player Clint Boon: who keeps his finger on the pulse these days DJ-ing on one of Manchester's biggest Independent Radio Stations - Xfm. Keep your ears and eyes open for the name Ellwood in 2006, you're certain to be hearing more of them. "Ellwood take us back to a time Pre-Doherty where the song was king and while they could quite easily be played alongside Embrace or Snow Patrol there's much more going on. With the right producer these guys could be huge!!!" Designer Magazine - http://www.myspace.com/ellwoodlive

* RYNA go for the jugular, this Manchester based female fronted four piece came together late last year with the sole intention of writing spiky pop songs you could cut yourself on. Anthemic choruses, surf/trash guitars and the dirtiest bass sound this side of Kim Gordon all contribute to RYNA's sound. Sure to delight.
