Margaret Dale

I did not know Margaret on a personal level, but she was always there on the front row - the UK, the US, Israel - wherever we'd go, she'd go. Last week Margaret drove behind the tour bus all the way from Davis to Seattle, and managed to get onstage at Davis. I had signed her arm and it was now a tattoo. This week she is dead. I can only hope, for Margaret, that death yields the profit of rest, and somehow provides her with a listener. We all weary of living in the same skin day after day, in a world where only the blandly trivial are allowed to be heard, but there is nothing wrong with taking your destiny into your own hands, just as there is nothing wrong in understanding what is meant for you and what isn't. We are plonked into life without ever choosing to be, and we are despised if we fail to find a paralyzed spot in which to keep still and shut up. Margaret was a woman of action, who now knows the soul of the world.
Meanwhile, on today's AOL News Page, headlines tell us that Victoria Beckham has reportedly dropped her "fake" look, and William and Kate are in search of yet another home - the constitutional frigidity of a media world now openly obsessed with zombies and morons.

Rest well, Margaret.

Morrissey's message has always been taking care of your own life and that you determine what happens to you . Whether you live or die it is totally up to you. You're the ultimate decision maker nobody else is .

If Morrissey said otherwise everyone would label him as a hypocrite and phony . Morrissey is true to his words and never wavers on issues . That's why I respect the man . He says what he means regardless what anyone else thinks.

All you can hope for is that she is at peace , and her suffering is over now and feel sorrow for her family and friends, and to remember all the good times you had with her .

I can't imagine a world without Morrissey. So when he goes, I go.

This is terrible news, I'm saddened to her she took her life.

I am trying to remember who she was, did she have dark "curly" hair and real skinny, or light hair (sandy blonde) and wears glasses?

I was in the front row stage left in Davis and saw two girls matching the description above, both made it on stage.

Dear Moz, paying your respects to a longtime fan, who helped pay your way in your dream life and then following that up with a non-sequitur (again about the media glamorizing shallow celebs) thereafter was hugely distasteful. It would be the same if your obit would carry an ad for McDonalds under it.

There is time for all things, Moz, of course, but there is also time for you not be a brat, and there is also time for you to not throw another boring tirade about something we are all very aware of, and that time is when you are eulogizing someone. Someone with very bad ego problems would find a way to turn that heartfelt statement back to himself. What a shitty person you are.

Ooer Matron - somebody is having a bad day. I think you need to chill and then read the statement again. Your reaction is extreme and quite nasty.

This is so beautiful. Morrissey hits the right note once again.
I did not know her but its sad when anybody passes away.
RIP.

Such a happy days she has been on these so many years. To have seen and heard so much greatness. Although she is gone and its sad. This is news worth chatting about, worth publicizing. To hell with the Royals and Sickening Hollywood. Long Live Morrissey. Get well dear Friend. We love you dearly.

How was the news of Margaret's death announced that Morrissey got word of it it make a statement?

A very sad story indeed! RIP

Cheers Moz

I have mixed feeling about Morrissey himself commenting on her passing... yes of course it is all very sweet of him to do so. Just as it was when Melinda Hsu passed. My fear is that some of these fans might read these nice things Morrissey writes about them after they are gone and then feel it is time to take their own life - out of hope that of course he will write about them, too...

I understand what you're saying, but anybody who commits suicide because they hope Morrissey writes a condolence note about them is absolutely stupid. While I feel for the woman, she was obviously very troubled, but let's be frank, the majority of fans who follow Moz EVERYWHERE he tours ARE mentally unbalanced.

emotional, sensitive, real issues aside - that tacked-on crap at the end trivializes an honest and real (if flawed) statement. does the man have no self-awareness? if you stop reading the tabloids, they DO vanish, moz. it's your own fault for wallowing in it. why drag her into that garbage?

~good vibes to maragaret's friends and family~

There's a reason.

Suicide is not courageous. A better use of action would be to live well and long.

His letter is irresponsible. How many of his mentally unstable, blind disciples will read this and decide to take their lives? If even one chooses this path, well... ah Morrissey will finally notice me. Morrissey will think I am a person of action.

And then to wrap it up by mentioning V. Beckham and K. Middleton, unbelievable. A new low, Moz!

Yeah, she should have stuck around to rabidly post on a Morrissey forum. What the hell would you possibly know of living well, or courage?

More self-indulgent pretentious bullshit from a man incapable of writing even an epitaph without sneaking in his redundant and overemphasized distaste for pop culture and royalty.

All I see when I read this is a classless move disguised as compassion from a huge piece of shit with about as much soul as a Pat Boone LP.

It should have been Morrissey who died.

A lot of people read your post would like to say that it should have been you who died.

All the people who downloaded audio / video from his threads should be ashamed.

So Morissey sits and watchs out the rear window of his tour bus who is behind him. Does he and the rest of the entourage have a snicker at the obsessed fan who has nothing else to do but follow him about the country and world? I feel sorry for Margaret and those like her.

Sorry but may I just ask why you are on a Morrissey forum?
You seem to hate him or should I say detest him so much...
Morrissey, unlike other so called celebrities, actually takes time to acknowledge his fans and with this heartfelt sentiment he has shown this.
His opinions have never changed on the subject of suicide and I am sure the lady in question would be eternally happy that he even thought of her, let alone write a rare statement about her.
