bet M never thought these concerts would be so well recieved, think alain has a hand in the setlists, long may it continue.
Don't like saying it as Boz was a loyal collaborator for 30 years, but Alain replacing Boz has sparked the pace, clarity and attack up considerably. There's no flab either. No World Peace..., no 10 minute versions of Meat Is Murder, no Throwing My Arms Around Paris.
The setlists are very sharp, covering nigh on 40 years of songs. Long may Alain continue👍

The Other Gordon🙂

Excellent atmosphere and crowd reaction for the first few - then quieter for the run of new songs / B-sides. But up again towards the end. A stronger setlist than last time I saw him (Leeds 2020). He seemed to enjoy himself - he sang Jerusalem quite sweetly actually - hard to tell if it was ironic or not. And 6 Smiths songs - fair play if it’s the oldies that people like. Hurling Days is growing on me - Knockabout World not so much. The Loop was odd and low-key - I’d rather he‘d kept Billy Budd instead. But Every Day, Please Please & Ripper were an excellent finish. And while Hooligans was an odd choice for encore, I’ve always really liked it, its pace and theme so actually it kind of worked too. Overall, Moz and George Best in Manchester on the night of the 40th anniversary of the Smiths first gig!! Every Day is Like Tuesday.
Nice post👍
Wonder how much the 40th anniversary means to him? Had that night never happened, none of these nights we're currently enjoying may have happened. And the last 40 years might have been entirely different for a lot of us.

Did you folk around here figure out already who Veronica is? I haven't. Veronica, older than America, can play harmonica. Hmmm...

Also does anyone know who the female singer is in the mix, from perhaps the fifties ,backed by male Abba lookalikes, who never smiles but looks cool and belts out that lovely tune?
GH, it's 'Baby I Won't Let You Down' by Pickettywitch. I think they won Opportunity Knocks or something in the early 70s🙂👍

It was also 31 years to the day since his solo gig at Hammersmith. Quite mad to think there was just 9 years between the Smiths first gig and that riot-a-thon. So much happened in that short space of time.

Morrissey is always good, but never great! Manchester show should have been full of one-time gems, never played solos and at least. 6-7 songs longer. Instead it a regular show like all the others. Morrissey really needs to learn how to be Len Ganda ray and iconic when on the road. Now is when his legacy is made.

No alarms, no surprises. Back-drop projected onto a bed sheet and the by now usual set.

SE,TTR - what an utter stinker that is.

Not sure we can be bothered with Brighton TBH. Watch this space and keep a close eye on Mr Shandy's haemorrhoids - they may become available (tickets, not the piles).

Cope.

What struck me was that whilst obviously the old stuff was more widely known, the atmosphere didn't really drag or no-one (around me at least) was frustrated and seemed to quite enjoy all (or most) of the new stuff

It flowed really well, really good set list.
Couldn’t agree more. I just got a vibe of awe from the crowd when he sung I Am Veronica or Bonfire of Teenagers. Everyone standing, at least the front half, all knew Knockabout World.

It stood out to me because previous gigs in recent years have either been heavy on new songs and brought the atmosphere down; not a slight on the songs but the more you don’t know, the less engaged you are. Or they’ve had something like World Peace, Bullfighter Dies, Munich, etc. middle that just brings everything to a halt.

You think that is because of Alain and Boz decided on set lists? You think Boz wanted 10 minute versions of Meat is Murder?

I thought Blackpool was so much better.

I know people have said he sounded great but I think his voice wasn’t that great in comparison to what it was 10-15 years ago.

Sounded a bit harsh/rough towards the end. Bit worrying because that is a usual sign of a common degradation related to age so I wonder how much more his voice can take.
my arse his voice has never sounded better.
