£225 quid for a framed promo poster; Is that the going rate? SOme nice stuff but for me overpriced, can you haggle like you're in the Marrakech bazaar?

Those prices are eye watering. Way too high. Ignore the "conservation framed" nonsense - there aren't photos of the frames, you may not want them in the colour / style used by the gallery.

The posters themselves vary in price on ebay - as little as £30 for a common Panic if you are lucky, as much as £200+ for rarer ones like This Charming Man or What Difference Does It Make. Obviously, ones in mint condition, with no fold in the middle will be worth more.

The unused proofs are interesting, similar ones are for sale on the http://www.morrisseymadness.co.uk/test.htm website. Ask is for sale on MM for £150, but the Gallery wants £450 for it framed.

My advice, if you are in London, feel free to pay a visit. But if you want the art work, keep an eye out on ebay.

Having said all of that... I've never seen that Your Arsenal before, if that is Morrissey's writing on it, then it is very valuable... priceless even.

‘Manchester Connection’: The Smiths, New Order, Stone Roses featured in poster show

manchesterposters2.jpg

Promotional posters and album art by some of Manchester’s most iconic musical acts — including The Smiths, Morrissey, Joy Division, New Order, The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays — will go on display, and up for sale, at exhibition called “The Manchester Connection 1976-1992″ at a London gallery next month.

The exhibition/sale runs Nov. 12-25 at the Movie Poster Art Gallery in London, and is subtitled “the gig that changed the world; the city that changed the world,” referring to the legendary Sex Pistols concert at Manchester’s Free Trade Hall on June 4, 1978, that reportedly was attended by Morrissey, Mark E. Smith, Peter Hook and Bernard Sumner.
Highlights of the exhibit include:
RARE ORIGINAL POSTERS: The Smiths, New Order, A Certain Ratio, The Stone Roses, The Haçienda, and the rare original poster for Joy Division’s debut album “Unknown Pleasures.”
RARE SLEEVE PROOFS: The Smiths, A Certain Ratio, New Order, and a unique Morrissey hand-annotated sleeve proof for his album Your Arsenal.
RARE ORIGINAL ARTIFACTS: the original FAC51 embosser used at the HAÇIENDA, the original “Gay Traitor” bar menu poster from the HAÇIENDA.
All of the items will be available for sale to the public; a full catalog is available online, too.

Re: ‘Manchester Connection’: The Smiths, New Order, Stone Roses featured in poster sh

You will always pay way over the odds at these events.

I bought a Queen Is Dead Australian promo poster that is about 12 foot high for £15 in 1995.
