Switch off from mainstream media for a second and research for yourself what exactly is “right wing” about Tommy Robinson and For Britain? Ann Marie Waters is from the Labour Party, a married lesbian, who like Tommy merely opposes the right wing fascism (anti gay, anti woman, anti infidel, anti apostate etc) of Islam.

I can't believe there are many Smiths or Morrissey fans who aren't disappointed by his views when it comes to race. His support of Tommy Robinson, his support of Ann Marie Waters, his support of For Britain are all things which are the opposite of my moral standpoint. This is not about free speech it is about the undisputed content of what Morrissey said and what his beliefs clearly are. He is now lauded by people from For Britain, an undeniably right wing movement. Having seen the Smiths in the '80's and then seen him probably another 13 times I have turned a blind eye to his utterance for the last time. From my standpoint his views on race, which are now pretty consistently right wing, are no longer acceptable to me. That doesn't mean I would deny him the right to express them but does mean that I will no longer be paying to see him, listen to him etc. I truly believe he has sullied his legacy and I truly believe my opinion is echoed in many, many Smiths and Morrissey fans.

I became a fan in 1986 and a couple of years later I bought myself a book called 'Morrissey in his own words'. It was full of, you guessed it, interview-quotes and I was shocked. So many outrageous things I'd never imagined or heard any other person, let alone pop singer, utter.
So I do think Smiths and Morrissey-fans will be used to the rude and crass, and frankly irresponsible, things he is wont to say sometimes. And we're used to it. Sometimes even amused by it. And sometimes he even manages to still shock us, which in this day and age isn't easy.
But I always seperated the man in the interviews from the singer and the songs. And I'm here because I love the songs, and I find it strange and remarkable how some let their appreciation of the art be sullied by the things he says.
I wouldn't normally but I just find the politics that he clearly identifies with are just not acceptable. I generally agree with you point but I'm afraid he's crossed the line and appears to be a deeply unlikeable person. It's completely sullied his music for me but accept that you can get passed it.

You clearly ignore evidence that suggests otherwise and come across as a an apologist. There is just so much evidence - are you going to defend Pegida? 'Tommy' set up Pegida UK and if that is OK for you I'd be amazed but if you are then your politics are a long, long way from mine.

I don't see him as a political person at all, hence why I'm not really bothered by which party he supports. I believe he supports none.
And yes, he certainly has unlikeable traits, but who hasn't? The man is, to me, the same as he was 10, 20, 30 or 40 years ago.
Unsettling sometimes but a great singer/lyricist all the same.

You couldnt be more wrong - endorsing AnnMarie Waters, endorsing For Britain Party and supporting Robinson makes him very clearly political. Why you would choose to ignore that and suggest otherwise baffles me. You are another apologist unable to see wrong in your hero. The man holds awful political views and is quite clear in expressing them. Not a political person? Are you just on a wind up.

Slagging Morrissey off is over! We do love him again since Blue dreamers eyes.

Not any more political than hating on Thatcher in the past, ‘we won’t vote Conservative’ or ‘sick to death of Labour or Tories’... No views I agree with particularly, but really nice songs anyway. And though it caused uproar in certain quarters (Scotland Yard searched his home) it didn’t with an ‘apologist’ like you, as you strangely want to call them.
These recent remarks obviously sit less well with you, but for me they are just that, remarks by a person obviously not very interested in politics (‘each time you vote’ etc) who just wants to cause a stir. And they are not even songs at this point.

You say you think he supports no party. He says he supports For Britain and talks glowingly of them. They are an anti-Islam, right wing party. He is intensely interested in politics - a recent quote that you must have missed - “I have been following a new party called For Britain which is led by Anne Marie Waters,” said Morrissey. “It is the first time in my life that I will vote for a political party. Finally I have hope'. Sounds pretty interested in politics to me. Do you have any other mates who support such an awful right-wing, anti-Islam party? I don't because those sort of views are repellent to me. Its gone way beyond trying to cause a stir, which is how I used to dismiss his utterances that I didn't like. Its now very clear, specific support for a political philosophy and party that I can't accept. You may be OK with those views but to me they are not OK. What is clear though is that he IS political, he DOES support a political party and this is not just stirring but actually is the sort of person he is.

‘The sort of person he is’ is really underestimating his intelligence and your own.
He supports For Britain because he feels a kinship with Anne Marie Waters for her feminism, animal welfare stance and her outsider role in British politics as well as her anti-EU stance. He doesn’t support them because they are ‘right wing or anti-islam’. If you think so, show me the quotes.

He is anti-political and anti-authority and anyone with a basic grasp of his body of work could readily say so.

And Tommy Robinson.......? And his demeaning comments on Sadiq Khan.........? In what way does that fit into his feminist/animal rights stance. Interestingly he says For Britain are the only party who can guarantee our security which is contrary to how you describe his reasons for supporting them. And if we are going to talk about his body of work should we talk about 'England for the English' and Asian Rut? I turned a blind eye to his suspect comments on race in the past - saying whites and blacks will never get on etc. but now it is so overt that its simply gone for me. You are valiantly trying to excuse his awful views but I feel you a blinded by your love of his music and what it has meant to you growing up. I grew up loving the Smiths and Morrissey and excused his periodic stupid comments as just trying to stir things up but I now realise there has been a thread running through since the '90's onwards that is just not acceptable and my blinkers have finally come off.

Anyway, I am now repeating myself but I can say that ultimately I just feel sadness about how it has turned out as The Smiths/Morrissey were my band from their very start and that now is tarnished forever. Very sad for me.

I’m not at all excusing his ‘afwul views’, it’s just that they’ve always been there.
Do you check for all the music/movies/paintings/books you like what views on politics, society, animal rights the maker may have. And do you prefer them not to say anything? I admire Moz’s outspokenness. Although some of his remarks are painful sometimes it is always the music and lyrics I love and that hasn’t changed, now has it?

You clearly need some new emojis. Your communication skills are decidedly limited. How revealing the second "lost" song's promo features so many non-white Mozheads. It kids no-one. Window dressing by SER doesn't hide the bigotry and the hatred that Mozza's new best friends make their forte.

Well said, Fawdy. As a regular on this site since 1997, it saddens me that those who claim to be his most devout fans find it so easy to hate and don't have the grace and the guts to be gentle and kind, having bought the lies of the alt-right all so very easily.
Uncle Skinny.....ROCK ON!!!! :-D

Same old emojis. Same old predictable responses. Waiting diligently for your 'InfoWars' 2019 calendar - paid for with your "patriot's subscription" - to come? Alex Jones is your standby guru, after all. ;-)

The lack of unoriginality continues - at a snail's pace. Before this group offered you sanctuary, you clearly were hiding away on one of those incel pages, as all the cool musicians had very much let you know where to step off with yourself. It'll be no surprise to anyone that you're probably listening to some fashwave as you prepare another lame response.
The tired old emojis still suck. Did you buy them off Richard Spencer - at patriot's rate? ;-)

PS - Plenty of us original Mozheads aren't Nazi sympathisers with a Leni Rhiefenstahl DVD on the shelf. That you are is very much your deficiency. :-D
