I haven't seen any of the shows in person tet( my tickets are for June), but does anyone have a sense that he's simply not as dramatic and energetic as previous tours? I could totally be misinterpreting based on watching YouTube videos alone, but it seems that he isn't lying on the floor, shirt tossing, grabbing himself in that fashion like he did as recently as last year. I really hope this isn't a sign of him becoming a Vegas lounge act as suggested above.

I hope he plays in the Republic of Ireland as well so you can save yourself the air-fare or a coach trip to Belfast. Or are you in the northern part of the island of Ireland?

I was sure to arrive early so as not to miss Tom Jones, and he did not disappoint. His voice was strong & had great range. He did a variety of songs - covers of Tom Waits, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, James Bond 'Thunderball' and of course 'It's Not Unusual', which he noted was his first hit single released 50 years ago this November. He seemed as others mentioned to thoroughly enjoy himself, describing Morrissey as a 'fellow countryman' before quickly clarifying that he is Welsh, and also that Morrissey has Irish heritage. [My husband's mum was from Cardiff so I'm already well-heeled on the Welsh thing]. He also made a few self-depricating jokes, 'Don't do anything I wouldn't do, which gives you a broad range... ' I watched carefully from my perch up high in the concourse and didn't see one pair of panties flung on stage, and was a little disappointed by that, especially considering Morrissey had several bras hurled at him during his set. Tom Jones classed up the joint with a large, somewhat worn looking persian rug in the center of the stage, which was rolled up and carried away before Morrissey came out.

Morrissey's set was great and started with a bang, as soon as he set into Hand In Glove the floor crowd was like a sea pushing forward, surreal to watch the whole crowd shrink itself to 1/2 it's size as everyone pushed forward towards the stage. I liked Bullfighter especially with it's cheeky 'Lonely Bull' horn intro. My eyes glazed over a bit during WPINOYB, just because political rants aren't my favorite, but the song was saved at the end when Moz ordered 'Get your FAT. ASS. BACK. to the ghetto!' Everything got silly during First of the Gang To Die, 'You have never been in love until you've seen my ASS reflect in the reservoir', and towards the end he babbled through 1/2 of one song as he shook hands with people in the front row. A few squandered opportunities by front row fans handed the microphone, I always hope to hear something amusing and original but people usually only say 'I love you, Morrissey'. My suggestion to those of you planning to be at that front rail, have something really good to say all thought out! Overall I had a great time, Morrissey sounded great even though the sound seemed off too me (treble too high), which brings me to my one & only complaint..

..the Los Angeles Sports Arena is a DUMP! When it comes to historic preservation I am the first one there, but they need to take a wrecking ball to this place. The acoustics were terrible, the vinyl seats were horrid, and to add insult to injury they only serve Coors Light at $10/pint. I hope it's true Morrissey never plays the same venue twice because I don't ever want to go back to that place.

Thanks for that informative review, and for adding in Tom Jones. He sounds like he was fun. So Morrissey's fat phobia continues, yet others on this thread remark that there were many obese persons in the pit. How does that work? A singer who is fat-phobic facing obese people from the L.A ghetto hoods and telling them to get their 'fat ass' back? Is it L.A humour? Beer sounds like London prices. The O2 has all the acoustic quality of a barn. Moz has yet to play there but I'm sure his ego will insist at some stage.

I took my mom as a mother's day gift and MORRISSEY was awesome last night and my mom loved it!. The crowd was a little too insane! (Pushing and shoving during slow songs?!) But i'd personally like to say SCREW THAT GUY DOUGLAS! First he cuts in line while were queing, then during the show because he HAS to be in the front at every show.. trys to push his way through this little girl AND my mom (we were seperate but i could see her) so my mom pushed him back a couple times and i pushed him back and yelled "GET THE f*** BACK AND RELAX, THATS MY MOM, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE IN THE FRONT!" Other than that, i had an amazing time and jumped over the barrier again..but Morrissey didn't notice me this time.

The fact Morrissey gets so much shit here reflects on him, his recent material, but mostly his almost ineffable idiocy on a broad range of subjects of which he patently knows little.

If he had just stopped producing decent material people would have shrugged and lost interest, like hundreds of artists before him. His decision to go out of his way to offend people in an effort to remain in the public eye has led to the current situation. It's entirely of his own making, and it is therefore entirely valid to challenge his views, whatever he may think.

That said I still hope the new album will be a success, despite the lukewarm reaction to the three new songs. I am slightly mystified as to why he is only putting three into the setlist so far. Novel marketing strategy. Release the album filler tracks as lead singles to fool the world into thinking it's a crock, then shock them with genius when they've lost interest. Let's see how that one pans out 'going forward'.

Give him a break - the guy is getting older. Every tour the guy moves a bit slower, and these days a whip of the microphone cord is he most action you are likely to get. The days of him rolling around the floor I think are pretty much over, as he'd need someone to help him back up again.

That's probably why Tom and Cliff were invited, so he could watch from the wings and think to himself "the audience like them! i can carry on singing "That's how people grow up" until I'm in a zimmer frame. Even then, I could carry on, a few songs about Viagra being no use to me. Excellent!"

I was being the biggest asshole during her set. Everyone around me was smiling though so I kept going. She said thank you.

And did you notice that whirring camera as Security profiled you for the "Banned Unpersons Anti-Guest List" at future shows? I hoped you enjoyed your last ever Morrissey performance, you can join DavidT outside in the rain listening to the muffled roar of the crowd from now on. There may be others joining you, possibly ending up with more audience in the car park than the arena. Let's wait and see.

But he did 'perform' differently just last year than he does now. One does not age that quickly in less than a year. I never said I was expecting him to wave flowers around his head and spin around. Just noticed a distinct change.

I have to say, World Peace Is None Of Your Business is pretty bad. Hadn't heard it before last night, and I'll reserve my personal final judgement for the record, but lyrics like "policemen stun you with their stun guns" and lines about tasers and how voting perpetuates the machine just come off as lame and so literal that I had to cringe.

Show itself from the cheap seats was just okay (my 9th Morrissey concert). He sounded great but spoke very little and the setlist had some gems but overall didn't play very well in that arena. Worth it just to her "Yes I Am Blind" live finally, though.

Not a terrible show, but certainly close to the bottom of what I've seen of him since 2004. Morrissey seems to be firmly back in an era that reminds me of both the summer of 2006 and to a lesser degree, the weak half of the Maladjusted tour. A set without a sense of pacing, playing some serious dregs of his catalogue and doing so in a manner that disappointingly exudes boredom. I thought his voice sounded beautiful, a big step up from the shows I had seen last time around. He's actually singing and not just talking or grunting through the songs, which is obviously an improvement. But the quality of the material varies so wildly from song to song that by the time the show is halfway over, the majority of the crowd seems exhausted. 'Hand in Glove' and 'Speedway' are great songs to play, but to front-load them and then move into 'Ganglord,' 'Paris' and 'Bullfighter' can feel like a bit of a letdown. That dynamic repeats itself a few times throughout the hour and change that Moz gives his audience.

Points for refining and experimenting with some of the arrangements. Sunday and Speedway are both sounding great, but the new version of First of the Gang is so wimpy, it really robs it of its essence of 'modern classic' the way that it felt on the Quarry tour and afterwards. You have to give him credit, I guess, for always doing what he wants but this set comes off as pretty unenjoyable to most, no real paydays once the set gets going. 'Asleep' is obviously a very special song to hear, but to end the night with 'Farewell' is such an anticlimax. I was definitely in the camp of wanting Morrissey to retire 'How Soon is Now?' but I'll admit that the set now feels a little empty without a big hit, there's just too much ambivalence in the room. Which I think is kind of inexcusable for a Los Angeles crowd, given our reputation.

Anyway, still fun to see him. But within an hour or so after the show, I had kind of forgotten all about it, which is not something I've been able to say before about a Morrissey show.

Oh I know she punched me as a sidewalk for sure. Karma really is a bitch, but I got it out of my system. I had a pint of Guinness before the show at King Eddy's Saloon where I was waffling about my plan of attack, whether I should just keep it classy or be a dick and the ghost of Bukowski said "Just f***ing heckle her." It's Chuck's fault. If I get booted my mom has some wigs I could use.
