This is excepts of Johnny from the main BBC program, and is edited. The video I linked to is the unedited outtake showing him laying down the rhythm part and soloing over it. Someone has put it on youtube, but it's inferior quality to the original flv or mp4 on the BBC site.

Oh, thank you for that! When he starts playing Some girls are bigger than others...amazing.

OH YEAH! Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others played by Mr Marr! I nearly wet myself! He hasn't even bothered to play a riff like that for years and he plays it sooo much better than what Morrissey's solo band did in 2009! Morrissey needs him back! Bring on The Smiths!

Haha, I'm so excited by this...I'm probably going to download them on MP3 and then cut Johnny Marr's guitar parts out of them! How obsessed with The Smiths am I?

Can someone in the UK rip the source mp4 or flv of this movie? The version on youtube leaves a little to be desired. There's a pause button hardcoded into the video.

If anyone could do it, it would be great! I'd like to save this for posterity while its available.

It's at:

Dear people I keep listening to this short show of Marr again and again, can I repeat the request for anyone able to capture this 2 minute video and upload for us. I tried but every software I tried failed to capture the source file. Any help?

Thanks in advance...

I have the I'm in a Rock and Roll Band as a complete show. I'll seed it on smithstorrents when I remember. What show does the Some Girls clip come from? Radio 4?

I've finally managed to capture it with the Free Trial Version of Replay Media Catcher. Below is the sendspace link for the 5.44 Mb sized .flv file.
Hope you'll enjoy it.

That's fantastic!

Any chance you can do the same with the BBC2 Outtake clip as well - my screen capture wasn't up to much...

Here you go Sir

Vivasouthpaw, first of all, thank you so much for doing this. However the outtake clip Dave was referring to is this one here:

If you could rip this as well, we would be really grateful. In the released show, they have Steve Vai talking over Johnny... it's no good at all. You never see JM breaking down a Smiths song in this way, and once its gone off the BBC site it will be gone for good.

Vivasouthpaw - that software is awesome - doddle to download and to use.

Here is the Johnny Marr Out take clip playing TCM.

Or if you want your own version - http://www.sendspace.com/file/w0ett1

Enjoy

To date almost 6000 people have viewed the crappy version of Johnny playing TCM, I've just realised that I can see statistics for it (see the attachment).

Looks like British blokes in their late 30's / early 40's. Like the demographic of Solo users I suspect :) (I'm not in that category - yet!)

And now it's my time to thank you, that was great. I wasn't able to watch it (BBC says: not available in your area).
Thank you million times.
