Very cool interview of Johnny thanks to the questions of the interviewer.

He talks about the chance he had to grow up with young adults. He talks about the importance of a hook, nearly every Smiths song starts with a guitar hook, and a lot of Smiths songs like Sheila Take a Bow are almost glam rock. His admiration for Marc Bolan, "Jeepster" is almost lo-fi. Bolan was little, he completely understood him, the vibe, the androgyny,
He talks about Roxy Music, and his love for unusual voices, Bryan Ferry is one of his all-time favorite singers, huge fan of Siouxsie when she came along, still listen to Siouxsie several times a week.
He still vividly remembers his first Patti Smith concert, first row, he was 14, he was transported to somewhere else. The Only Ones was a band for him. The influences of your heroes become yours.

Pop culture. That was a really satisfying thing with the Smiths : gatecrashing in the mainstream, Top of the Pops. Thanks to the outsiders.

A really inspiring conversation.

One of the most influential guitarists and songwriters of all time, Johnny Marr (The Smiths, Electronic, The The, Modest Mouse, The Cribs) delves into major moments in his creative evolution, from discovering his love of guitar at age five to finding favorite artists like Marc Bolan and Patti Smith and The Only Ones as a teenager to joining his first band (Sister Ray; he was fourteen, playing with a group of adults) to the early days of The Smiths and how he dealt with the pressure of their fame, when it came to making The Queen Is Dead, in particular. He also explains what aspects of his songwriting practice he's retained over the years, and how he approached his excellent latest album, Fever Dreams, Pts. 1-4. Marr starts a tour in North America later this month.

Loved it, thank you!

How I wish he would do an album with one of them.. Siouxsie or Patti.

Would love a revival for either of these icons. Would not mind it if JM was a part of it.
