Johnny Marr and Morrissey (Mashup)

Hi there,

What would happen if Morrissey popped up from backstage and snatched Johnny Marr's microphone while he was playing with his band?

A bit of fantasy, a bit of tinkering and a lot of imperfect AI technology to illustrate this, with tracks played live by Johnny Marr, whose voice is replaced by Morrissey's, itself isolated from another concert.
A mixture of the instrumental version of one (Marr) and the vocal version / acapella of the other (Moz).
For the moment, you'll find 2 videos. More to come.
Sounds like The Smiths. Surprising, isn't it?

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank this reference site, which I've been visiting for so long and thank all those who have shared the many recordings of Mozz and Marr's various appearances over the years.

Best,
TSF

Hi. I like the bee overlay in your profile photo.

Johnny and his band sound tremendous, exhilarating and vital. What a loss for the Mozzer. Great editing and AI work on this, OP! Thanks for including the sources too.

This is fantastic, thank you. Although somewhat sad, too - how Morrissey's band (not just the current one) could never ever come even close to sounding that good.

Very nice. Makes the heart hurt.

Great work, Marr really needs to find the best Morrissey impersonater and do a benefit gig for Andy Rourke or something. I love his band but he's mostly just serviceable as the singer of The Smiths stuff besides one or two tracks.

At least he has the ability to attempt both jobs and be the master of one so I ain't knocking him.

Then on the other hand, Morrissey should find the best Smiths tribute band and sing lead for them.

Hi

Two new videos.
Soon the end of this fun little job.

Best,

How Soon Is Now?:

That How Soon is Now with Andy brought tears to my eyes. It also made me realize Morrissey is surplus to necessity. It’s all too late and Johnny does just fine on his own.

Hello everyone,

Here are the last two mashup titles.
An alternative idea to reality, the impossible Smiths reunion.

It's not impossible that the best way to enjoy these mashups is to close your eyes and just listen to the audio version.
Without images, just a little imagination.

It was a pleasure to share on this forum. I had already done so, a long time ago, under another nickname.
The pleasure of listening to the Smiths and following the solo careers, with varying degrees of attention, of Johnny Marr and Morrissey has never left me.

Thanks for your comments posted here!

Gratefully yours,

Gorgeous! Thank you, the band sounds terrific. Were the songs played in the right key for Morrissey's vocals?

Thanks a lot!
Indeed, for 2 songs, I had to adapt the key. Not necessarily for Morrissey's voice.
On the other hand, quite a bit of tempo modification and cutting, editing and resynchronization to make these videos "credible".
Johnny Marr and Morrissey have their own interpretations of the songs in their solo careers.
All sources can be found in the description of each video.
Besides... I prefer this to Rick Astley. lol.

I really enjoyed these, considering it looks like the only way to hear them together. My favorite part was on "There Is a Light" when Johnny's vocals take over which I didn't notice at first, very nice juxtaposition.

Thank you Katsneezle. Yes, our ears are more used to Morrissey's voice, but Johnny's and the audience's vocals are worth it!
