jeane tab

The entire song is (and forgive me - this is from memory, if I had my guitar with me right now I would not doubt myself) the chords A & D. Throw in the C when you feel it with the lyrics.

D D A A D D A A over and over (you should knw the strumming)
Jeane
The low-life has lost its appeal
((Play C on word TIRED))(i think)
And I'm tired of walking these streets
To a room with its cupboards bare

Jeane
I'm not sure what happiness means
((Play C on word LOOK))(i think)
But I look in your eyes
And I know
Oh ...
That it isn't there

((Here I think it is C and D))
Oh, we tried, and we failed
Oh, we tried, and we failed
We tried and we failed
We tried and we failed
We tried

((You should get the idea of the chord changes by now))

Oh, Jeane
There's ice on the sink where we bathe
So how can you call this a home
When you know it's a grave ?

Yet you still have that greedy grace
As you tidy the place
But it will never be clean
Jeane

We tried and we failed
We tried, and we failed
We tried and we failed
We tried and we failed
And we tried

Oh ...
Cash on the nail
It's just a fairytale
Oh ...
And I don't believe in magic anymore
Jeane

That should be it... Just do the same thing over and over and play with the strumming and picking structure of it...

OK Luke/// One of the more straightforward Smiths compositions..

Try a choppy
D A D A and so on.. for the verses
interspersed with
G B
and then of course the bridge is something like
G A G A

Just sitting here with my axe in my hand without the music.. but sounds about right.

Have a go boy, and let me know how you get on.. 'I tried and I failed' would not be a suitable result!

Well I sat down late last nite and worked this one through. It's tricky and I'd suggest due to some dicohordancy (is that a word?) that alterante tunings may be in use. Knew the progression was around A to D.. and the bridges would be A D E and I think E Eb D.. but without a guitar here at college.. can't rellay exploit the initial run through from midnight last night. However, found this which claims to be from the 'song book'.. and bears out a little of my investigation but I stress I haven't sat down with this and validated its accuracy.. no time for picking tab though, you'll need to feel your way. Play with passion rather than technical accuracy. Like the Pistols did..
