    "In support of Morrissey:

The truth is, there is a hate campaign which is artificial, fabricated and does not reflect the views of real people: people who attend concerts and buy records. 'For Britain' is repeatedly described as a 'far right-wing party', when it isn't. It is run by an irish lesbian who opposes patriarchy.

People are murdered on London Bridge, or children destroyed by nail bombs at concerts, or....the list is legion....There is a very much a problem linked to extremist Islam: its 21st-century core beliefs are still affirmatively anti-feminist, anti-LGBT, and anti-democratic. This is NOT anti-Muslim; it is anti-undemocratic; anti-patriarchy; anti-religious extremism.

Morrissey was a contrarian in the 1980s and 1990s. and who saved many people's lives—as many hundreds avow—through the messages of his songs., In 2019, he is still a contrarian. Yet, in the UK, he is a hate figure whom a British newspaper is bent upon destroying.

For a person who could have given such pleasure to millions, over the years, this is very sad, indeed. x"

James' previous (much longer) statement last April was deleted from Facebook, but a copy of the text is available here and was entitled: "Is Morrissey A Racist?"

    Regards,
    FWD.

I like how Moz has his little army of brown-nosers he sends out to down-vote posts. Hilarious.

Hey, Skinnybob, how does it make you feel, when you see that Morrissey has another Top 10 album?

Basically this all boils down to whether some views are acceptable and some views aren't.

But who the fuck are people like Skinny to decide what views are acceptable? I would rather think for myself - thank you.

I don't believe in censorship and I abhor the very idea of 'no platforming' people. Let people express their point of view. If you disagree - debate and discuss. Then get on with your life.

There are laws curtailing freedom of speech - slander, libel, incitement to violence, not shouting 'fire' in a crowded theatre etc.

But that should be it - freedom of speech (and thought) is one of the most precious freedoms we have.

Other people's views aren't unacceptable just because you disagree with them or find them offensive.

There is no view known to human thought that someone somewhere won't find offensive.

W.B. Yeats supported the fascist movement in Ireland in the 1930s. Doesn't for one second stop me admiring his poetry or make me think we should ban teaching him in schools.

For Britain is clearly not a fascist party. They may well have views on immigration that some people find offensive - but that's democracy for you. You don't have to vote for them.

      Let's all grow up.

Keep on downmarking, I'll keep on posting.

Ha! Here comes the cavalry! Just as we've seen a hundred times before. Morrissey phones round his mates. We should all put our cups of tea down and pay close attention to ... **squints** .. 'James Maker'. He'll tell us what to think and do.

A hate campaign? Oh my. Where to start. And shame on Maker for being dragged in to support For Britain. Shame on him. And of course, Irish lesbians can't be hateful. They're Irish. And Lesbian.

Facts hurt. Tough. Own your mistakes. Apologise. Be humble. You'll sell more.

And fuck Maker for the horrendous whataboutism in mentioning the London attack and Manchester bombing to get some equivalence. Fuck him. How dare he.

I thought I'd seen something like this before, and here it is, from a Dutch fan who writes remarkably like our very own Thewlis, remarkably so in such a headlong blinkered manner.

Quick, James - here's your point of reference. Now GO!

Looks like Morrissey is clearly not "pleased" with the album chart position.

His manager makes a statement and now this. I'll not be surprised if during the Champions League final this evening, Russell Brand, Linder and Michael Bracewell run naked onto the pitch and chain themselves to one of the goalposts.

If I was Martian and came to earth and read the For Britain movements manifesto; I'd say the main agenda and their USP is the anti Islam discourse. Yes folk are concerned about terrorism from ISIS supporters and horrified by barbarism just as we were by the IRA bombings years ago. No UK political party made their central theme anti IRA and wanted to reduce numbers of Catholics in the UK.

I think the idea of Morrissey being a "contrarian" is crucial in all of this and the theme of the outsider has been the basis for his career.

Almost all of the political figures that he has praised could be classed as outsiders - Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, George Galloway, Nigel Farage, Bernie Sanders (and his "independent success") etc. I've no doubt his support for Anne Marie Waters has been inspired hugely by the fact that she was an outsider within UKIP and then became the outsiders' outsider when she left.

The IRA did not plant bombs in the name of Catholicism.

Whether you love Trump or loathe him - at least in the face of Islamist terror he suggested an action: halt Muslim immigration. Muslims are killing people so reduce immigration from Muslim countries. It has a certain logic. And at least it was an action. What action has any other political leader suggested - that we all holds hands and sing Wonderwall?

If Martians did come to earth, they’ll probably ask questions about this:

The wealthiest 1 percent of American households own 40 percent of the country's wealth, according to a new paper by economist Edward N. Wolff. That share is higher than it has been at any point since at least 1962, according to Wolff's data, which comes from the federal Survey of Consumer Finances.

From 2013, the share of wealth owned by the 1 percent shot up by nearly three percentage points. Wealth owned by the bottom 90 percent, meanwhile, fell over the same period. Today, the top 1 percent of households own more wealth than the bottom 90 percent combined. That gap, between the ultrawealthy and everyone else, has only become wider in the past several decades.

      This is the real issue.

      Wake up.

The saddest part about being a human being is that if you are prettier, richer, or just different from other people in anyway, people try to bully you. It's usually the really ugly people who are really ugly on the inside too. Just the real bitter people . Morrissey has dealt with this BS his whole life , me too!
You have dumbass like Skinny who probably has a really shitty life and the Guardian morons that are desperate to clickbait. How sad that one person is will to be spiteful just to get clicks on a page. Is that what humans have come to?

So assholes yes Morrissey has a good life, great career, is very attractive and your life sucks in comparison so try not to be jealous and be a doucebag to him.

Why exactly can someone not be anti islam? Is it compulsory to be pro islam?Let me tell you there is plenty to not like about it. Just ask some of the people who have and are trying to leave islam.

All fed and speeded up by mass immigration and globalisation - the big corporations love it because it creates cheap labour and maximises their profits. This is why Brexit will be crushed and will never happen because the big corporations love the EU super state. Moz has woken up.

There comes a point where even a contrarian has to show some consistency.

How can anyone take serious someone who issues public support for an American socialist like Bernie Sanders (who, if he became president, Morrissey and his money would be on the first flight out) and Nigel Farage, whose economic policies are to the right of Margaret Thatcher.

If the Guardian's coverage of Morrissey was so damaging to his career and sales, why wasn't it offset by the support of the BBC? (which Morrissey recently thanked them for ).

The BBC is arguably the most powerful media in the UK. It's TV and radio reaches every home in the UK and beyond, free to air. There has been calls for it's internet content to be scaled back as it has been claimed it has affected the sales and future of UK regional newspapers.
