Morrissey has been into the big loud distorted guitar sound ever since new(ish) guitarist Jessie Tobias joined the band, so your best bet would be to check out the two most recent studio albums, 'Ringleader of the Tormentors' (2006) and particularly 'Years of Refusal' (2009), which has exactly the same band line-up as the current tour, so a very similar sound.

Dropping back a bit further into Morrissey's back catalogue another one you might enjoy is 1995's 'Southpaw Grammar', which again is very much an 'amps on 11' kind of record.

I don't suppose the Iron Maiden fan enjoyed a Morrissey concert because s/he thought it sounded like Heavy Metal. They might've just enjoyed the music for what it is (insofar as that's possible).

Yeah - but if the guy enjoyed the Isle of Man gig it's best to point him in the direction of similar sounding stuff first, rather than, say 'Vauxhall and I'.

Thanks for the recommendations peeps, I've got something to do over the weekend now :)

Someone mentioned (don't know who you're all Anon) that the more recent Moz albums have a different guitar sound to his previous efforts and I have to say that when I was at the actual gig on Tuesday I was surprised with how 'heavy' it was, I thought he would've sounded more 'Pop' if you know what I mean.

I was quite excited when those drums started up after the videos but quickly disappointed when it was just a backing tape lol

Once again thanks for the help.

On a different note, and without going into it all why have people been banned from his gigs?
There was a guy down the front on Tuesday and he was asked to leave twice by all accounts

and also what's the score with this 'Kristeen has been told what to say and how to act so as to catch herself a Morrissey, he has fallen for it big time "they" dont want all his money etc going to his family.'?

Cheers,

TEF

TEF - the guy thrown out twice at the front was simply a drunken idiot who was showing no care for anyone around him. It started with Kristeen's "performance" and there was a tone of concern around the front middle section. Once he (and another with him) were escorted out, the atmosphere changed considerably.

He returned later with his top tied around his waist but thankfully a few pointed him out to the security and they removed him again.

This was one my favourite Morrissey concerts in the 18 years I've been going. Not so much for his vocal performance, as I thought he was holding back a little (London calling?), nor the set-list which misses many of my top favourites, but for the atmosphere and spirit amongst the fans where I was (directly in front of centre stage, one from the front "row") and the general loveliness in the air. I was hugging sweaty strangers at the end in happiness that we'd shared the experience.

Very much an old school gig for me.

The highlight for me was when he agreed to allow the girl on stage after handing her the microphone (and maybe when he replied to me after his band intro).

Isle of Man will forever be in my heart after a brilliant 24 hours there; if it wasn't for Moz, I'd never have experienced it.

thanks for listening,
mjp

As has been previously stated, there was no 'banning from gigs' here - the guy was clearly pissed up and extrememly rowdy and causing nuisance to people around him - and this is during the support set - people rightly complained to security, and he was escorted out of the pit so as not to ruin everyone else's night.

There is only one rule at Morrissey-solo - and that's there are NO rules. People can, and do, make up any and all bullshit they want, anonymously, without fear of comeback. Do not believe ANYTHING you read here as gospel truth - I'd say at least 85% of things posted on this site are lies and bullshit posted by trolls.
