Is there a Morrissey fan 'type'?

That is, do you think that certain types of people are more likely to be Morrissey fans? Discuss.

I use to think so, but now I don't, mainly because I recognize the primary difference in humanity as being those of us that change and those that do not.
So really I have little in common with other Morrissey fans unless they are also ever changing, growing and dynamic people like me.

But, I have to say, I was a bit amazed by how much people were alike whom I spoke before, during and after Morrissey concerts in different cities in different countries. I identified at least four categories. If you take the people whom I'd stuff in the same categories, it was almost like speaking to the same people in different bodies. Mind you, this is on a small talk level. It were these striking similarities that made me form the categories in my head. The weirdest was the guy who asked me if the bloke next to me was my boyfriend and when I said no he said that I was with him then. I was like "Wtf????? " Unfortunatly not the only one like this whom I met. Luckily only one of the categories.

Doesn't the song Nobody Loves Us sum up the Morrissey fan type? Homemade Jam and cake lovers who just want somebody to hold their hand and show them a little tenderness, which I think Morrissey does. At least thats how I feel.

I may be totally wrong about this, but the only common denominator I can think of is books: I've never met a Smiths/Morrissey fan who wasn't an out-loud-and-proud reader of books.

I think Smiths fans might have started off as 'idealist socialist vegans' in the 80's with a hatred of Thatcher/Reagan and a desire to set the world free through music, poetry, a love of camp and rights based politics (rights that obviously extended to non-human animals).

Morrissey's music and personal comments spoke clearly and loudly, saying the things one would want to say but couldn't due to paralytic shyness. I always had the feeling he was speaking for me!

That was .... bloody hell, 25 years ago.. and i think fans have probably changed since then... - but not me! I still love him mainly because he is a semi-militant and unrepentant vegetarian (like me), and i still think we can educate others surreptitiously through great music and political stances (spoken like a true student! tee hee).

I still love his camp humour and unavailable-availability tease (which only multiplies desirability)... and the tunes keep getting better and more intense and the lyrics more self reflective!!

I think my musical taste has changed but grown with him... where i used to listen to The Smiths alongside Mary Chain, Japan, The Cult, Bunnymen, Bauhaus and Banshees, i now listen to Morrissey alongside Lord Cut-Glass, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, The God Machine and Suede. I think i'm probably typical of some of the 36-40 year old fans (not that i'm admitting that i fall into that age bracket)

I always though Morrissey was more than just music - he is a way of life. I love him!!

Whenever I've been to gigs in the U.k. I've noted the archetype fan to dress thusly - Girls - 1950's rockabilly/goth ie. black rimmed glasses, dress, baby doll shoes, back combed hair with boy wearing NHS esque specs and quiff black sports jacket, blue jeans white/ black tee.

I find this stereotype very strange when did moz hang out with girls who dress like this, maybe they think they are dressing like the female version of Morrissey ???

A person drawn to our beloved Morrissey all have the following characteristics:

i) They are very beautiful physically.
ii) They are very beautiful spiritually.
iii) They are the souls of selfless patience and unconditional love.
(After being abandoned so many times by M at the venue gates, they still turn up for Him, again and again and again)
iv) They are immensley talented and creative with great intellect.
v) They have beautiful voices and manners.
vi) They are full of fun and laughter.
vii) They are gentle and kind and have great strength . . .
