is evil just something you are or something you do?

In Brett Eastons' 'American Psycho' this line is quoted.
Which came first?

If the motive to act evil precedes the action, than evil is something that 'you are' and thus 'you do'.

Another question is whether it is nature or nurture or a little bit of both. I think sociopaths are born that way. It is a mental disorder not unsimilar to bipolar or obsessive compulsive disorder. The probelm with sociopathology is that there is NO CURE. Therapy and meds are ineffective. The only solution is to wait until a serious felony is committed, then he (most are males), can be diagnosed and locked-up. Otherwise, the people around them will often suffer the wraths of these individuals. Most vitims are women i.e. a battered wife.

And I typed all that for nuttn'? Lmao.

Maybe you can tell by my response that this subject interests me. Long ago, I fantasized about working in the Behavioral Science Department of the FBI. You know, like Clarice Starling from The Silence Of The Lambs, lol. Ever read the Thomas Harris books? I have read all three. The Red Dragon is my favorite.

Hannibal is the weakest of the three. I'd start with The Red Dragon.

Oh, and you are quite welcome.

I'd start with A.P if you haven't read it.

No I haven't read it. I saw the movie though. Christian Bale had the most gorgeous body I have ever seen in my life. Was his character extraordinarily good looking and vain, in the book as well?

Film is awful compared to book - read the novel.

I am gonna see if my library has it on the shelf. I can put it on reserve at the click of my mouse. Love technology.

Pseudo-intellectual nonsense as usual.

I do not think I get most of this board, maybe looking at it wrong, SIMPLE, GUESTBOOK, NEW 1st, or did CHICO sell me the wrong decoder books?

Also, on evil, oh forget, nonsense

I don't mean to be rude Bertie, but you are so lame.

No one wants to hear about your stupid psycho thriller novels. I also don't care about psychology as it is a junk science. Try studying something useful like law or engineering.

No one is inherently evil, just as no one is inherently gay...

But God designed us with the capacity that we could choose to do evil things, just as we could choose to do gay acts. Either way, evilness and gayocity are not natural things.

try laying off the crack pipe loser,oh and you might think about taking a bath once in a while

but some people are inherently stupid. You, for instance.

It is B Ghoul or David 5 as usual, trolling my arse because they both have no 'real' lives.

You just have to duck every once in a while, for some people love to throw rocks at ya -- sissies is what they are. I'd like to see these same people say these mean things to my face. Think the'd have the nerve. It is highly doubtful.
