Just thought some of you might be interested in reading a thread about The Smiths from an obsessive sound-quality bunch (myself included sometimes) regarding different CD pressings. Sorry...Stephane....my bad. Regardless, I'm very thankful for your site and have been referring to it lately. I have some deadwax information that is slightly different than what you have listed for a couple 12" singles, and was wondering if those stamper numbers like RTT 146 A1 are just copies you have or have been reported to you?

Also, do you know why some might have the A1 vs. the 1AU-1-2-1 (just an example). Do you think it was different pressing plants or different masters used for those pressings or why the differences?

As for you question regarding the A1 vs 1AU-1-2-1 numbers, it's a question of pressing plant I believe. They each have their system.
