I'm a Dying Billionaire. I approach Morrissey and Marr . . .

I wish you luck. I'd like to see this happen too, though I'm not happy about Johnny having been promoting leather and suede shoes. He's supposed to be a vegan no?

I think that was more of a health matter than pure animal rights, it's also part of his running and fitness stuff.

I am very proud of the fact that 20 years on people tell me they became a vegetarian as a result of ‘Meat is Murder’,” he said.

“I think that is quite literally rock music changing someone’s life – it’s certainly changing the life of animals. It is one of the things I am most proud of.”

- Johnny Marr.

He seems to care for animals rights and not just his health in the above. But maybe this quote was before he decided to profit directly from animal slaughter.

I'm a dying billionaire. Heirless, hoping to leave something behind to world culture and thinking that nobody approaches Marr in terms of music for Moz (though if Cobrin had written more, he might come closest) . . .

I approach Morrissey and Marr and offer them 100 million each to reunite for one album with a smaller sum to Rourke.

What happens?
Joyce would Sue.

Agreed, missing a couple of zeros there! Also Moz would have to apologize for that dumb open letter.
Why should he apologise for it? That letter was a long time coming; the only thing it got wrong was not telling Marr to get f***ed more directly. Marr should apologise for his juvenile response. Or we could all just accept that their friendship/working relationship broke down in 1987 and neither of them want nor feel any need to rekindle it again.

Believe it’s more accurate to say that both behaviors can be called juvenile, the posting of the open letter and Marr’s response.

Having said that. I feel both actions are understandable.

Nah. The open letter was restrained and even complimentary in places. Marr's response was pathetic, a transparent attempt to gain twitter kudos for himself and ecourage ridicule of Morrissey by invoking Trump.

I meant it wasn't all about animal rights, he went veggie after MiM but only went vegan a couple of decades later when he lived in Portland

“Vegetarianism was always pretty easy for me, because for a long time I didn’t really care about food.” His lifestyle started to change dramatically in the ’90s when he began hanging around with the US hip-hop band Naughty By Nature. “They had this philosophy of strength through health,” Marr says. “It seemed very, very un-rock’n’roll, which appealed to me at the time.” He stopped drinking soon after, went vegan and also stubbed out the cigarettes. “I started running, which I find to be incredibly liberating.

Kinda curious, since I'm not sure being a vegan is healthier than being a vegetarian, in fact the opposite might be true.

Still, I feel that if one is a vegetarian due to concern for animals, then to profit from leather and suede products is contradictory for sure.

Agree on the first part (y)
On your second point though, weren't they friends in the mid 90's again, and then there was the reunion talk. And wasn't Marr complaining then at some point that Morrissey wouldn't answer his emails?

Perhaps, but i don't think* he's been that preachy about his lifestyle or browbeating others about their diet etc think it's , he's doing far more than a lot of other people so i find the criticism a little forced.

* perhaps i'm wrong

I think there was some kind of reconciliation around 2009 or '10, too, if I remember correctly.

But who would write the necessary Smiths-quality lyrics? Morrissey can seldom write Morrissey-quality lyrics anymore.

Agree, it was a great letter. But didn’t need to be open. And Marr’s response was poor. The bridge burned from both sides.

yep. (y) I mean, if he’s going to have principles (be aware of the rights of animals) than he should stand by them and not turn a blind eye just to make a dollar.

Also if he likes the shoe, fine, wear them, but putting his name to it, promoting them is totally different.

The open letter got less reasonable as it went on. He could have just said "Look, stop letting the media goad you into talking shit about me, I've never done it to you and I am sick of it" and left it there. He went overboard as soon as he started talking about Golden Lights and aliens and Marr speaking like he could mind-read etc etc and then it started to look like a rant.

By doing it in public, he basically gave the media the "clickbait" he was complaining about in the first place. And JMs response was absolutely woeful, it was embarrassingly bad, didn't deal with anything at all that had been said. They both played into the hands of the press instead of acting like grown men.

It doesn’t matter what we think about the open letter, Johnny has said it was insulting. Moz needs to publicly apologize for that and disavow any alt-right endorsements before Johnny would set foot on stage with him. And everyone knows it’s not going to happen, not for any amount of money.

Morrissey doesn't want to get on stage with Marr again so why on earth would he apologise to him? Because Marr was offended by a letter? Honestly who gives a shit??

A reunion is kinda irrelevant now. Given the speed that AI is progressing we'll soon be drowning in hundreds of new fake Smiths songs which will sound identical to how they would have sounded had they actually got together again. Love it or hate it - this is the future of music, and no band will ever have to reunite again when AI can do it for them.

If Morrissey would want to cash-in on his back catalogue he wouldn’t even need Marr. He could easily recruit any of the following: Gannon, Street, Whyte, Boorer, Cobrin, Paresi, Day, Bridgwood and do a 1988-1995 theme hits tour or/and any number of Smiths songs too.

The thing is Moz doesn’t like nostalgia tours and he doesn’t need the money.
He could sell his catalogue? Or has he done that already…

Considering that Johnny Marr used to be the sort of quintessential person that you’d neverrrrr hear anyone have a bad word to say against, i think Mozzy was actually super nice in his public interaction during/with/and on the subject of Johnny Marr after that totally dire episode. It was literally so bad, JM’s response. And more than that, just the fact that JM showed the true colors of his (embarrassingly) terrible attitude, at that moment in time.

Anyway just fyi for any of you potential hoodlums out there who are starting to get confused now, just remember: alpaca sweaters are always fine to eat because alpaca sweaters are not made from alpaca steaks.

Hence the same reason why it’s also ok to snack on any other winter garments (or scarves or even earmuffs) that any of you may have that are made of wool, but not ok to eat grilled little baby lamb chops o_O

Get it? Got it? Good!
