Iggy And The Stooges

.

THE NIGHT POP DROPPED

HIS BOMB ON EVERYONE

When Iggy and David Bowie would work on music together,
sometimes it took a cajolin' from Bowie to get Iggy to write
about certain subjects.
An interestin' instance of this, is the song Dum Dum Boys.
David wanted Iggy to write a song about The Stooges, but
Iggy wasn't really into the idea at first.
David encouraged the idea by tellin' Iggy that The Stooges
were a heck of a band.
Iggy finally decided to write the song.
"How about Dave? / OD'd on alcohol" was referrin' to the
recent death of Stooges bassist Dave Alexander.
Zeke and Rock was referrin' to Scott and Ron.
James was referrin' to James Williamson.

Dig all Stooges… but, in regards to Iggy, Raw Power and The Idiot are my desert island choices. Don’t know how many times I’ve listened to them and will continue to do so until I drop.

Durin' the makin' of the first Stooges album, Nico began visitin'
producer John Cale and would sit in the production booth and knit
as the band recorded.
Nico and Iggy soon struck up a friendship and upon completion of
the album, Nico returned to Michigan with Iggy and stayed at the
Funhouse farm with the band.
Iggy recalls Nico bein' at a in between moment in her life and was
in a little bit of a fragile state.
She only stayed at the Funhouse for about a month, but in that time
Iggy recalls that she taught him about good wine and how to eat pussy.
Nico also decided to change locations of the promo video for her
song Evening Of Light and director François De Menil came out
to the Funhouse and filmed the video in the farm fields.
The Stooges lent a helpin' hand and appeared in the video.

Some would say The Stooges made the first hardcore punk
song with I Got A Right.
It was made for Raw Power, but rejected by the label.

Here's another fun one.
Iggy does a interview with Flea regardin' is new album Every Loser.
Iggy mentions how he hooked up with Andrew Watt, when he says he got
a email from Danger Mouse, sayin' that Morrissey was lookin' for'em.
Iggy also describes the song he got from Moz as "f***in' slammin' ".
Iggy also talks about finally followin' the advice that Andy Warhol gave
him for the song "The News For Andy" and how the song "The Regency"
was the response to a open letter from Bono.
