It is understood that the music venue security officer who is harassing Morrissey also uses the name Brad HawkSteyn, and is known online as Springy.


I don't even know where to begin in addressing why this update is problematic. I can't see how it won't end up backfiring horribly.

What is the issue? What is the rule? Apply rule to facts. Conclusion - reason your way to one. As to MozRecording's point, if we are talking criminal assault or battery, not only must there be a threat, the threat must be imminent. If that element is not met, a party cannot be convicted of criminal assault (threat) or battery (offensive or unconsented touching).

Having reread the original Moz-solo post (the one from TMZ), I've noticed some pretty glaring deletions and examples of vagueness that call into question the essential usefulness of the original declarations--the ones that have all of us up in our proverbial arms. I quote that post liberally as follows:

According to Steyn ... Morrissey hated the guy who ran one of his fan websites -- Morrissey-solo.com -- which he felt invaded his personal life. [all of that is speculative hearsay] Steyn claims in the suit Morrissey asked [whom?] if there was a way the fan [the fan or the guy who ran one of his fan websites] "could get hurt [how? financially? physically? emotionally [e.g. by being barred from a concert]?."

Steyn claims [Steyn made a claim right in front of Morrissey? or Steyn now claims that "right in front of Morrissey..."] right in front of Morrissey ... [why the ellipsis??] the tour manager asked [the tour manager asked!!] if the fan [the fan?/which fan? or the guy who ran one of his fan websites] "could be gotten rid of." Then they [they who? Morrissey and tour manager? Steyn and Morrissey? Steyn and tour manager? Steyn and some other previously-unidentified person?] discussed how to get the fan's home address [to be used to deliver a summons?].

The biggest problem is that the greatest unambiguous claim laid is against the tour manager--not against Morrissey. Morrissey can't be responsible for every off-the-cuff comment or question made by Morrissey's tour manager, can Morrissey?

I think the reason Morrissey published this information is because there are certain elements of libel that must be proven. This includes publishing a written statement that the accusations made against him are false (first TTY statement) and by also clearly identifying the individual (Steyn) (second TTY statement). Looks to me that he's covering all grounds.

Sorry if this has been pointed out. I haven't read through the entire thread.

There's a bacon pic on his Facebook page. Inexplicably. Or maybe he missed it while working for Moz and a picture was saying a thousand words. Or he's particularly fond of bacon photography. Or it's a sign he wasn't bringing home enough of it and was available for hitman work to compensate.
