Ian Brown's truly solo gigs, thoughts?

Not awkward here, Let’s not forget one offs he’s not adverse to. His first love was the lone pop singer singing their heart out on a stage without a band

Though yes live on a tour he needs the support of a band the gang the energy, etc ..

Would you be happy to go and see see him play solo with backing tapes?

I was at Brown’s Manchester gig: it was great. Contrary to what you could believe from media reports, everyone enjoyed it. Perhaps the most interesting thing is that, given full control over the stage sound, Ian Brown is a good singer (and no, his voice wasn’t pre-recorded too).

It would be interesting in many ways. But probably not go and see, since some of it would be up on YouTube and that would be enough. Ian had balls/ego to do it, and most probably enjoyed the novelty of it, I would doubt they would see him again in that setup though.

Should Morrissey fully consummate his collaboration with ASAP Rocky, by singing with him in a live context, then it’s a style of performance that might well be on the cards.

Ian Brown has always had an obsession with rap. It was near fully realised on his recent tour—right down to the NLE Choppa style hairdo, and heavy gold chains.

Yeah, guess most pop acts use backing, but they have a lot of cool choreographed dancing to make up for it, don’t you think?

Maybe Ian just needs some dancers, then he won’t be so criticized for not using a band. Lol.

But the gangster rap lifestyle is more than just a fashion, it’s a state of mind. And Ian is stating it!
