I started a smiths guitar blog

Hi, I just started a blog for those who are looking to learn Johnny Marr's guitar parts.

It's here:

http://smithsonguitar.blogspot.com/

I'm planning on going song by song, listing official and unofficial tab, youtube videos, and quotes from Johnny or Morrissey about the songs themselves. I'll keep updating the song entries as I get more/better info about how the songs are played.

If anyone has any suggestions, or anything to contribute, let me know. Especially if you have any quotes from Johnny about the songs, anything from rare interviews etc, I would really appreciate it!

Very cool. It's too bad I can't play the guitar that well. I can't stand playing bar chords! I really must practice using them. :o

This is not me playing!! :guitar:

Nice one.
Info of Marr's guitars used, set up etc :guitar:would be useful.
Also Morrissey solo tabs etc as these are in pretty short supply elsewhere.

I'd recommend providing a link to www.micturion.com. It provides a comprehensive tab collection of Smiths and Morrissey bass music, so it would be a perfect asset to add for those tribute bands looking for complete music parts.

Thanks... yeah, I'm trying to post all the comments Marr has made about any given song, with any tidbits about guitars used or production etc. I'm going to go back and highlight in bold things in his comments like what guitars or chords he used.

I can't really delve into Morrissey solo, at least for now its a smiths-only project. It's for people who wish there was a "how to play like Johnny Marr" dvd or book for sale. Since Marr used so many guitar tracks and different tunings, theres just not a lot of official tab that gets it right. So I'm trying to organize different sources into a 'Johnny Marr:The Complete Picture' of sorts.

Fran, you don't have to bother with barre chords if you don't like them - a lot of the major players (including Jimmy Page and The Edge) don't play yer standard full barre chords, deeming them too obvious.

Many thanks. I always find Smiths songs hard to play. Have managed to crack Oasis and Verve but not my favourite band as yet.

Well even Noel Gallagher said something like, "No one can play like Johnny Marr, not even Johnny Marr." :)
