I love kill uncle

There might be some truth in this.

I was thinking that maybe he's not allowed to use the keyboard yet, and only has access to the mouse, which might explain why he/she/it doesn't post comments. Which kind of makes me feel a little sad for our sad little Bieber troll.
it's possible he doesnt even have arms and has to use his nose to move the mouse around. who knows, he might even be trying to give us positive feedbacks but his nose keeps hitting the redundant button instead? poor biebs, his plight makes me realize all the things i take for granted every day :tears:

This was the first concert tour I saw him on, and KU always holds a close place in my heart. I view the album as more intimate than VH. It was hit or miss in parts, but The End of the Family Line really spoke to me. The entire lyric described and laid bare how I felt at the time...and still do.

The production is a bit muddied like ROTT, but overall I found it to be a glimpse into the man himself. I enjoy his music the most when he speaks from the heart.

I love the line
"All honoring nature, until i arrived with incredible style"

Yes, End of the family line is my favourite, but also Driving your girlfriend home and King Leer. I always turn up the volume for these as I enjoy the acoustic guitar parts.
Thanks to the person who started this thread. We should be talking more about the music.

You can't help but feel incredibly empowered with a sense of hubris. The ego in full force. The peacock in us all set loose. Such an introvert/extrovert dichotomy that runs through so many of his lyrics.

I think that the lyric you refer to is one of the closest he ever came to admitting his homosexuality. And I'm glad he left it opaque. His sexuality never interested me. Nor does mine truth be told. Today with reality TV and everything on full display subtlety is a lost art. He knew as I knew that we would never have children of our own and he made that OK for me.

Whenever i hear that line i'm always reminded of this image.

Kill Uncle certainly has low spots, but there are also some great tunes there. Personal favorite would have to be King Leer. The piano is so calming, and I love "you didn't even phone me.... because it's not your style." I guess I really connect with the feeling of trying my best to impress and make my romantic interests feel good, while they can't be bothered. One of my fav Moz tunes ever.

King Leer is so funny.
Never understood why people disliked it so much.
Your boyfriend, he went down on one knee
Well, could it be, he's only got one knee
OMG, I hope I did not offend a mozbot or a hatebot, or a fan with only one knee.
But than, would they feel offended as well by Moz?
Ah, you have to be so cautious about the words you use nowadays. :(

Don't let your pretty little head worry about it too much. After all, Morrissey's fans are nothing but superior human specimens.

Overall it's a very slight album, but it has it's own charm. I'm fairly sure Mark Nevin has gone on record that he was annoyed with the production decision to cut down on the guitars, so I think that whispy 'barely there' feel is largely the fault of Langer & Winstanley. 'The Harsh Truth of the Camera Eye' is also the most boring song Moz has ever written, so the decision to include it really drags down Side 2. Swap that for a finished version of 'Born to Hang' and things are improved already.

Overall, it's still probably a better album than 'World Peace' though - which has great production, but even less good songs.

Agree with the first part and while I like harsh truths lyric it can be a boring song. Funny side two got better in the lyrics department but more boring on the music side. Disagree about world peace as I love that album

'Thank goodness Michael R. and the Th'Lads were just around the corner.' :thumb:

Yes I'm sure I said this before, I think a large part of it's failing is in the choice of producers, there is no edge or depth in the mixing and processing of the sound. It all has a softness to it that doesn't allow one into the songs very far. I always fantasize how it could have sounded if Ronson got his hands and ears on it.

'off topic' huh? really? you really are a sad little troll.

it was a better album played live

Nice photo. Don't think I've seen it before now

Very nice photo.
I can see the picture of Edith Sitwell on the tour-pass he is wearing.
The female poet with the enormous quiff. (Some might also notice her not too small nose either). So it must be around the Kill Uncle tour.
Thanks for sharing!

yes, it brought the songs back to life, returning the edge that was probably intended when they were written.

Though it was so exciting to see M for the first time on the 'Uncle' tour that it didn't really matter how the band sounded.:lbf: But by the time the band came back with the 'Arsenal' tour, holy shit ! they really took care to work on their over all sound, richer, tougher, deeper, unstoppable. To me it was the best that any of his band line ups have sounded. Will never forget.

All of this is true and I feel the same way
