Hull City Council officials are delighted with the news that Morrissey will be performing in the city in September.

Hull Culture and Leisure, which works in partnership with the council has described securing the former Smiths frontman as 'a real coup'.

Hull Arena is a fantastic venue for music, with stars including Ed Sheeran and the Arctic Monkeys previously playing sold-out gigs. This booking of world-renowned artist Morrissey shows just the calibre of artists Hull can attract. Straight from playing Madison Square Garden in New York, he is coming to Hull - this is a real coup!

Looking forward to the gig. Got tickets early at 9am Friday just gone. Not sure if sold out for standing yet? Enjoyed the last Nottingham gig and the O2, hoping for some more classics from his early solo stuff. Doubt he'll play girl least likely to!
