Re: who is going to the most gigs this year

these were my thoughts after the gig

Hi all

Just back from the show and as a veteran of 23 Morrissey shows for me this ranks up there as possibly the best. It blew Cork out of the water.

The setlist was virtually the same as Cork but mixed around a bit He opened it Irish Blood. "You are in the museum of modern art...and I am Modern art"
He spoke after virtually every song. He sang an intro into Industial schools by Damien Dempsey..and then broke into What she said. He complemented the crowd after that song saying you sound exactly like the crowd on " Rank"
After Vicar in a Tutu he said "Does anyone really like that song? to which even replied yes. He said I heard someone say know I am gonna get you.
Highlights
Death of a disco Dancer
Life is a Pigsty
Mama lay softly on the Riverbed(until now did not like thiis song)
The Loop
Why dont you find out for yourself
You say you dont love me( What a brilliant song and got a great reaction)

He closed with Playboys and dropped Skull from the setlist

I was in Cork which was a great show but there is something about Moz playing Dublin. I have never seen him in better form

I personally despite being up at the front did not take any photos sorry
However they were loads of cameras and videos so it wont be long before we see them.

"If anyone read the Hot Press Interview I am very sorry what I said about your new Taoiseach...but I am sorry its true"

For the encore he came and said "Its 1 minute to 11 they told me to be off this stage by 11 and then sang the first few lines of an Irish Ballad
Come all you maidens young and fair
All you that are blooming in your prime
And always beware
To keep your garden fair
Let no man steal away your thyme.

before thundering into Playboys.

The New York Dolls were just simply excellent. A similar set to Cork but it was clear the crowd were more into it as the band was also. They set the night up perfectly for Morrissey

Noise is the Best Revenge started proceedings and ...well they tried but they failed. Unfortunately the singer eh...cant sing...however he was trying his best. There were some boo's but I cheered them on. No matter how bad they are there is no need to boo them IMO.

Roll on the new album

Re: who is going to the most gigs this year

Morrissey determines the number of gigs I will attend. He already changed the number on me and the tour hasn't even started. So I really can't say how many I will attend, that will be determined at a later date.;)
same here. already went from atleast 12 to 8 :(

Me? Probably one.
But who can be sure of how many they will get to see? Or how many there will be?

Please explain why it is important to see more than two gigs on the same tour? I don't get it, since there will not be substantial variations from the new album material from one concert to the next.
Personal choice I suppose? What else would I do? Modern music is a pile of dross and virtually all the people/bands I listen to are either dead or split.

For me it helps that I have spent over 20 years living/then married to a Morrissey fan. We are financially solvent and have no kids, so apart from work, there is nothing to stop us.

For me it's not a box ticking thing, I actually enjoy each and every night (though some less than others).

It's the support acts that you get fed up with, not Morrissey.

Ah, you are so lucky to be married (happily, I presume) with someone who understands your passions and also because you have extra disposable income.

Although I do wish Moz would be more radical about mixing up the setlist, I, too, have enjoyed each and every show immensely. The only shows I regret out of 130+ were a couple in Germany 2006 I didn't need to go to because I was very ill with a bad head cold. But to be honest, if I didn't go to those shows, I would've been kicking myself for missing them. I'd be all like, "It's only a flesh wound" while hopping about with both arms lopped off.

I feel high when I'm following a tour. Gawd, I feel manic even. I seem to need less sleep, and I do get very irritable when people behave like asshats at the shows. Hmmm...maybe Moz induces manic episodes in me! What's this nonsense about being depressing?!

Hello, my name is Mel Torment, and I have a Moz show addiction. Admitting my problem and my powerlessness over it is the first step. I've told Moz that he's criminally addictive. And another time I've told him that while ativan (the drug he said that could really really help me at the last US show) is an interesting drug, HE is my drug of choice. At other shows, he's noted that the entire audience is back again for their "fix". Too true.

So a warning to you young turks who wonder about going to more than 1 show/tour. Don't do it! It's a terrible, utterly destructive habit. Just say no. Uh, just refuse...

Oddly enough, I cannot say how many shows I will see on this tour because of my uncertain schedule and obligations. I just pop up at random places at the last minute. I might do 3 or 30.

I too have been ill at shows! Once I had lost my voice and could only get words out in a high pitched croak. It was really embarrassing. Another time I hadn't been out of the house (bar a few trips to the doctor) for a month. I had recovered, but wasn't up to being with people. I only got as far as the train before I verbally set upon a man who annoyed me. The best is falling asleep for about a minute not long after The Smiths came on stage. I didn't sleep much the night before. I still get reminded of that from my mate who was sat next to me.

Yes, it's a happy marriage. I met her outside the Holy Name Church, on St Patricks day 1989. So it's not quite 20 years yet, but nearly!

Um, you seemed okay by Amsterdam... Unless it was the cold that turned your hair purple?;)

What a romantic story -- I think I'm gonna be ill now! :p Seriously, I am happy yet envious of you two.

Hah, your sleepy Smiffs story was funny. No wonder your mate keeps reminding you of it. I've only fallen asleep due to jetlag during opening bands, particularly KY jelly. But when Moz comes on, I perk right up.

Um, you seemed okay by Amsterdam... Unless it was the cold that turned your hair purple?;)
Purple?! It was platinum Andy Warhol white. What drugs were you smoking? Hanging out with Stoner Kebab in Amsterdam-- say no more!!!

I was a bit better in Amsterdam but not really tip top. By the time the tour was over I was full of misery and phlegm and slept for two days after landing at LAX. I spent Xmess unconscious. That's the best for all concerned really.

Doing Very Well
Re: Years of unsuccessful refusal

So far, just one gig for me (Boston); couldn't get a front row ticket for Foxwoods casino in CT, so I'm not making that trip.

Until proven otherwise, I'm assuming this tour will go on for two years, like the last one, and that he will be back around in the fall after summer festivals (October in Boston pretty much = Moz gig, historically). I'd anticipate one or two more gigs, then.

Seconded, it was absolutely to fabulous for mere words to describe acurately, and the NYD's did make it all that more special.. none of the inspecting your nails, trying not to fall asleep during the support, that was a NICE change. (apart from the disgustingly fat security guard in front of me who kept yawning widely and not covering his mouth and fiddling in his trousers!)
oh and the fact that we didnt have a hope of reaching Moz, that spoilt it a little.

So far on this tour;- Liverpool, Great Yarmouth, Cambridge, Manchester, Manchester again, Brixton (cancelled, but did the trip anyway) and the Troxy gig. I'll also be going to Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool and Paris (to be confirmed/arranged this weekend).

My wife keeps mentioning Ally Pally, but as I keep trying to remind her, she hated the place 18 years ago. She still can't remember?
