ok so i went to the local store and found tucked away in the corner a single of the headmaster ritual

it is rough trade and sire

it says promotional copy not for sale

does not have a smiths sleeve or anything but im assuming it was a radio station copy?

any clue if it is rare at all?

i suppose it's a promo for the us or canadian "how soon is now/shakespeare's sister" 7" (with "headmaster" as a b-side). it's not very rare, you find it easily on ebay.

Is it 12"?

Sounds like a USA Promo disc for Meat is Murder

A promo 12" of "The Headmaster Ritual" (Sire, PRO-A-2333) was also distributed in the USA in March of 1985 to promote this album. It had the album version on one side, and an edit by Phil Brown on the other (in die-cut sleeve, no artwork, view label in left bar).

Not that rare, but a nice thing to have for the Phil Brown edit.

They crop up on ebay a lot there are 4 at the moment http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=smiths+headmaster&_sacat=See-All-Categories

it is a 12 inch and it has the headmaster ritual on each side..

one side says (edit)
the other side says (lp version)
