Hawick anybody?

So who else is going to Hawick? I'd love to know. Any general thoughts/expectations?
:D

oh yes i shall be there - 3 of us in total - coming up from geordie shores !!should be there mid afternoon for a few pre gig drinks. small venues are always good , so as long as he is in a good mood / in good health should be great - see you all there !

I'll be there - it is my hometown after all! As I've said in other threads if anyone wants any Hawick info then feel free to ask and i'll do my best to answer it for you!

best pubs to drink in? best place for a veggie bite to eat? best place to park? cheers

The Waverley pub will be the best pre-gig (if open on a Tuesday night!). Turnbull's cafe/restaurant just before the High Street is lovely. Parking in the Common Haugh (check Google maps for area). It's about 5 min walk to the venue from there, free parking for about 400 cars.

Im travelling up for the Dunfermline and Hawick gigs staying over 1 night in each town. Looking forward to Hawick more than anywhere looks a tiny venue should be brilliant. be up for a few pre and post gig pops.

Is the best way to travel between Dunfermline & Hawick to take the train from Dunfermline back to Edinburgh & then hop on a bus to Hawick, or is there a better way? I've been somewhat in denial of the fact that I need to make travel plans beyond the point of getting off an airplane. :squiffy:

Unless you know someone else going from Dunfermline think it is the only way. First Bus X95 is the one you want from Edinburgh to Hawick, get it every half hour from the bus station.

I seem to be in the same predicament! I'm going to Dunoon, Dunfermline and Hawick, have places to stay in either Edinburgh or Glasgow, but don't have ways to get to the shows yet. I may rent a car, but would ideally find others to ride along with my friend and I to share costs.

Looking at the dimensions of the hall (-->http://www.scotborders.gov.uk/pdf/35229.pdf), I wonder how many seating/standing tickets they sold and how those might be arranged, I don't see any balconies for seats.
Says the one who bought a seating ticket, assuming that due to the small location, it will be an all-seat-concert anyway and now wonders if making that choice was a good idea.

Hi mate, I'm from Hawick and the way the gig will be (99% certain anyways!) will be all standing down stairs, upstairs for seating. There are fixed seats in the Town Hall upstairs. If you visit this webpage (http://www.pbase.com/lesleyfraser/image/135428744) you can see what the main seating part is. This image (http://www.pbase.com/lesleyfraser/image/135428804) also shows what the venue looks like with seats downstairs but none of these will be there on the 21st. You'll also not get to sit as far along the sides upstairs but some side seats may be available. Hope this helps and hope you enjoy the gig too!

I hate myself for buying a seating ticket. In the highly unlikely case that anyone would like to exchange a standing for a seating ticket, please send me PM.

Thanks! Do you know of a nice and reasonable hotel/B&B in Hawick? Cheers.

Many thanks, terinus1514! Unfortunately it appears you're right. Do you know if it's possible to get from Hawick to Edinbugh/Glasgow after the gig? Thanks!

From what I've heard most of the hotels/B&Bs in the town are fully booked. This site (http://www.roomfinderscotland.co.uk/mapsearch.php?townid=76) has most of the local places listed so try them and see. Also try the Hizzy Guest House (http://www.hizzys.co.uk/index.html) which isn't listed on the last site but is very nice. Hope you find somewhere!

I'm having the same trouble right now. I'd love to enjoy some after show, so I'd rather avoid travelling back to Edinburgh that night, if you find a hostel/hotel/whatever, would you send PM or tell in this thread? Thanks a lot!
