I played the Wedding Present's "Peel Sessions 1987-1990" in the car on the way to and from work today. The first session on the CD is my favourite. "Something and Nothing" is my fave track on the CD. "George Best" seems a long time ago now.

I'm not always so stupid...

sigh... lovely band... have you heard the acoustic version of give my love to kevin? it was on the b-side on the 7" with the french version of why are you so reasonable now...

Don't be so hard

Today in the car I played "The Peel Sessions 1992-95". Very nice too, especially the 1992 session when I turned it up loud for "Flying Saucer". Mind you, "Spangle" kills me every time. I happened to have a tape of "Watusi" in my car one evening way back in 1996 when I was supposed to pick up a girl I really ached for, to go on a cinema date. But she never turned up. Driving home with misty eyes, this bloody song came on. The lyrics were savagely apt in the circumstances.

is my favourite from watusi...there must be hundreds of guitar parts in it!

Watusi

I played "Watusi" on the way to work on Friday. A spankingly good album.

Sucker!

no I am not insulting anyone here, just naming "Sucker" - the most kick-arse Wedding Present number ever!

as for albums, well 'Mini' and especially 'Saturnalia' are pure quality. as with all good bands, the Wedding Present kept getting better and better.

Yep, a great little tune. Reminds me of The Fall. Could be Darren Belk's influence there.
