Morrissey Abandons Isle Of Wight Festival

by Zoe Street on 5/28/2005 More Festival Articles...

Well, cheeky old Mr Misery has done it again - Morrissey has wimped out of ANOTHER festy appearance - this time? It's the legendary Isle Of Wight Festival. Tut!

Fans of the gladioli-toting moaner will be sorely disappointed by the announcement, which was released on his official website yesterday (May 27), with just a couple of weeks to go until the big day.

And this is not the first time he has pulled out of a fest: he dropped the Fuji Rock Festival after a "sudden disagreement" last year, not to mention ditching Benicassim, also in 2004.

But back to now, we have learnt that the former Smiths frontman is backing out of the IOW because of the pressure of his upcoming release, not to mention "losing his drummer". Dear oh dear, well, where did you last put him, Mr M?

A statement on the urban poet's site says: "Morrissey will regrettably not be appearing at the Isle Of Wight Festival on the 11th of June as scheduled.

"The pressure of preparing the new album and losing his drummer earlier this month has made it impossible to do the gig without massively compromising both the gig and the album.

"Apologies to all the fans, the organisers and the people of the Isle Of Wight."

Harrumph.

Ms. Zoe Street knows what she can do. "wimped out"? I think not. Zoe, your acerbic and supercillious little story was hateful. THIS WAS NOT HIS FAULT. If you want to get pissed off, and have a little tantrum and complain to mommy, blame Sanctuary, childish woman. Jump off the Coronado Bridge.
