One thing is for sure: Moz continues to make it hard to be a fan. If I'm honest I believe Moz actually doesn't give a toss about his fans. Short concerts, setlists to only please himself, his lack of empathy with almost all humans, etc. I still think his voice and music are ace but I don't think he can see beyond his own little sycophantic solar system with him at the center. Where has all the humour gone?

I don't think he's physically or mentally well. He looks agitated & in pain. But he doesn't have anything else in his life apart from cats & songs, so on he goes.

Was watching some of Stephen Fry talking in opposition to political correctness and cancel culture etc and man some of these articles/posters here could take a leaf out of his book. The amount of people who I have heard being all "cancel Morrissey!!!" and then asked them if they had actually directly read/listened to anything he said, to which they hadn't, is amazing. There is article after article and it's almost like Chinese whispers. There is so much stuff and yet compared to what he himself has actually said is crazy. The amount of people here wanting to control other people's behaviour because they can't control their own emotions is nuts.

I agree. Also I think Morrissey believes that his opinions are based on facts, so I think, if people could stop condemning him for five minutes, they could probably persuade him he was wrong about some of it.

Fry's been cancelled many times, but always bounces back because he's more socially connected than Morrissey is. But the cancellation process is brutal & usually far nastier than the offense the person is being cancelled for.

The only difference between the Morrissey of yesteryear and today is the fact he now has money and the complete autonomy to act the way he wants. He felt no one cared for him when he was poor so why should he care about anyone now. I imagine there was a specific moment when the penny dropped and he thought 'I don't have to give a shit about anyone, anymore'. He no longer has to come across as morally superior. I'm sure he must wilfully make people dislike him simply because he can and it makes life more 'interesting'. He's always been catty, of course, but now he can also be obnoxious (in some people's eyes).

Anyone who thought he was morally superior was a bit delusional - what's great about him is his bleakness & nihilism, combined with yearning for something unattainably better. He's never lied - he's always said he's phobic about people & he's not right in the head. It's just now he's getting older & unwell & I think being alone is starting to get more unbearable.

So bored by all this nonsense. There is nothing more precious than the ability to say what you want to say. There should be no topic that is out of bounds. The average student campus has less freedom of speech and thought than North Korea. Comedy is next to impossible. What is ultimately so laughable is the idea that Moz will shut up because people say to him - you can't say that.

Absolutely, plenty of what Morrissey says is eye rolling. Sometimes I feel like someone sitting down with him in the right manner could probably either change his mind on things, or, tease out a lot of the things he believes aren't as bad as he makes them seem .. but he loves sweeping statements and generalisations and sometimes you sit there thinking "god I know what you actually mean, but when you put it like that...". But most people don't look at it on a more critical level. It's black and white, he said this one thing in this one interview so we need 73 articles all feeding off each other calling him the devil, when only maybe 4 of those 73 authors actually read what they're talking about from the source, the rest just read from each other.

Then of course you have some of the people here, who couldn't care less about what he is actually saying, it's just a chance to put the boot in. He could be talking about the dangers of global warming and the benefits of medicare for all and he'd be a dangerous leftie socialist nut job to them, because it isn't about the issues - it's about him.

And in the end, people may ask why I continue to like him if I don't agree with a lot of his stated views - it's because I don't invest that much emotionally in him. I invest in his music and songs and that's about it. So really, half the people here who are clinically obsessed with hating him are absolutely shocking at controlling their own emotions. They have far bigger issues to worry about than what some dude with a good voice thinks.
