Just came from seeing Gene at Shinjuku Liquid Room (Tokyo). They've always been an "also-ran" band for me, but I have to admit they were great. They played an overstuffed set with 3 encores. Everything from beefed-up versions of "London, Can You Wait?", "Olympian", "For The Dead", "Sleep Well Tonight", "Be My Light, Be My Guide" to an amazing "Fighting Fit" (Martin pointed the mic at the crowd for the chorus), "As Good As It Gets", "Fill Her Up" etc. The band looked good and were in high spirits. I entered a casual fan and came out pretty buzzed on them.
