Former Crowded House drummer Paul Hester passed away on Saturday near his home in Melbourne, Australia. Hester was found dead in a park on Saturday, hanged in an presumed suicide, though no further specifics have been confirmed. Hester was a member of Split Enz, and followed singer Neil Finn to form the popular band Crowded House in 1984, enjoying over a decade together as one of New Zealand's biggest Pop bands.

This is sad news-what a tragic end to a great talent. I always loved Crowded House and was lucky enough to meet them after a show at Newcastle City Hall years ago. Paul was really friendly, funny, relaxed and down to earth; as were the rest of the guys.

Sad news...

Yes he was a very funny performer... I recall seeing Crowded House in Seattle in '91 and he made a joke about having a bigger ummm, manhood, than Seattle Supersonics basketball player Benoit Benjamin- who was 7 feet tall... At the time I thought Paul must go to the Sports page in every city he plays in so he can see who the tall local sports starts are so he can compare his masculinity to them and get a laugh from the crowd. Paul must have been no taller than 5 feet as Neil Finn towered over him and Neil is about 5'6" so the joke was pretty funny!

He will be missed...

Looks like The Man Above must have said something like..
"I got you.."

They only presume it's suicide. How many more clues do they need..Man hanging, chair underneath him
