Fantasy Springs in Indio - NO Cameras!!

Well, that's what they told me over the phone a few minutes ago. :(

I asked if my camera would be confiscated, they said they'd make me take it back to my car. The guy said it like he really meant it too.

I've been lurking here for a while and have seen a ton of great concert photos! Certainly, FS can't be the only place on Morrissey's tour with a "no cameras" policy, can it?

How do fans get around the "no cameras" policy (if at all)?

Well, I saw Alice Cooper there about a month ago, and there were tons of people taking photos. In fact, security was letting individuals walk down the aisle to get closer to the stage to snap a quick picture. I don't remember being searched at that show either, so I am surprised they told you they had a strict no-camera policy.

Most venues will say no camera. But this is rarely enforced. I wouldn't worry too much. Just make sure you have a place close by to go put your camera in case they don't let you in.

Once you're in, all you have to do is to wait until other people start taking pictures.

Shove it down your pants. It is the only way to get it in. You may be asked by security to stop taking pictures if you are lingering over shots/excessively using the flash.

Hey, thanks for all the quick replies! :D

I thought I might just be worrying for nothing. Worst case is I'd have to haul my carcass back to the car to drop off the camera. Certainly not the end of the world and, from what y'all are saying, not too terribly likely.

abay, you weren't searched at all at Fantasy Springs? You don't think they'll check inside my purse?

I wasn't searched, but I also was about 30 minutes late for the show and the lobby was pretty deserted at that point. Also, I was escorted in by a friend of mine who is a family member of the band, so maybe I got special treatment? Regardless, there were so many cameras during the concert that if they searched, they weren't very thorough.

Just don't hold it in your hand. And do not make it too public here where you want to hide it. ;)

In Cologne I was also told that the venue never really searches even though the ticket said "no camera" and the guys I was with had a laugh about where I put my camera, but you never know. I wasn't searched. Düsseldorf was the only venue where they did actually search where I put my camera in Cologne. Luckily I did not have it with me there. :D In Lille in France I had a laugh because the people who searched had a good, firm grib ... almost... between the legs of one guy.

Oh BozBoorer, you are too funny. I am so glad you asked this question and got replies, because I was worried about the same thing. I figured they wouldn't technically allow cams, but I know I want to have it, and I am still trying to figure out where it's gonna go on my person or in the semi-secret compartment of my purse. =-P I am planning to scope out just how thorough they are being at the front before I tuck it away.

Enjoy the show! :guitar:

Since we're on the topic of Indio, has anyone been here? Is there any kind of club-type place in the casino?

Thanks!

p.s. first time poster, so forgive me if I'm...misplaced.

Hah, that's my trick but it was probably unnecessary even when I got frisked for L.A.

We had to walk through the entire place to get our tickets (due to where we had parked, and not having been there before). Anyway, it's your typical Indian casino...smoky, pseudo-slot machines occupied by deadeyed elderly folk, and plenty of nondescript restaurants. We didn't see any clubs. There may be one or two, but they didn't stand out, that's for sure.

Fantasy Springs is newer and cleaner than the other Coachella Valley casinos. But, being located in Indio (the armpit of CV), that will likely change. It seems to be more about the golf course and spa than about entertainment and cuisine. Just my take on it. :)
