Eurovision Song contest

there is quite a fuss about the german participant going on here.in germany.
named "lena"
she did go to a tv audition where the canditate were voted for the eurovision song contest but on that show the songs they choose for the canidates were quite good:for her it was at least , the cure, adele , kate nash ellie goulding....etc
a lot has been written about her natural way to sing and perform even though her accent is a bit weird..she tries too much singing with an british accent. according to a nativespeaker :the accent is rather a mix (or better the way she thinks how a british accent should sound) than a single british accent belonging to one region
well she has certainly took the charts by storm as she has as the first person having ever 3 singles in the top 3 at the same week..her song for the contest being no 1.
for me its a bit too much hype even though she has a fresh personality...unfortunately her album was produced in a rush and sounds like it..hope for her she has time to develop and break free from the former producers,,,

the song which will be the song with which she will appear on the eurovision:satelite

i hope something interesting comes from the Uk this time? after listening to it..well..maybe next year?
i really wonder why the motherland of pop doesnt send some good artists to the show..they have so many good people making music who could conquer the show...

i have watched the show as a child but lost interest when i was a teenager. i a friend of mine did watch the show everry year and did make a big party out of that evening so a few years ago when we were living in the same city (he moved away a while ago, me too) i did watch it again with him...even though the music is mostly awful-i will watch it again this year

Oh god. Do people still watch Eurovision? But it's rubbish.
My neighbours were watching semi-final at full volume the other night. I was desperate and even considered calling the police.

Even Morrissey watches Eurovision every year! :D

This isn't a weighty argument. I'm very happy for him. But even Morrissey couldn't change my opinion about this nonsense.
(Morrissey can be a bad influence sometimes. Shhh...)

I rest my case.

Have a good evening, Freda. :)

no according to one of the interviews he did with (either gal uchovsky or lior ashkenazi) he "doesnt watch eurovision anymore")
i think that i do watch it now has do so with the german contestant this year and the exitement of my friend ,who lives to far away now to visit-but whose parties i was visiting back when we lived in the same city- he does abig one it every year when eurovsion was on)
i rather watch it because one wonders how crappy music has become -at least in this very contest..there is a word in german "fremdschämen" which is quite fitting...

We used to have watching parties here. Not because we expected good music, but to eat, drink, laugh and have silly competitions

eg how many of the songs will incorporate a change of key, or how many will lose clothing before the song ends.....etc...

I think UK always puts in a bad song because it is expected, or because it's too expensive to host if you win.
