'Electronic' the best of.. to b released...

Electronic are pretty poor, they were good at the time but sound terrible now.

Getting Away With It is a classic though!

I disagree, thought electronic were pretty good, Disappointed and Patience of a Saint are very good songs

Their best song is 'Getting Away With It'. I personally rate that amongst the best of The Smiths.

Neil Tennant has said the lyrics are supposed to be from the perspective of Morrissey himself. Kind of an in joke they all had.

I've been walking in the rain just to get wet on purpose
I've been forcing myself not to forget just to feel worse
I've been getting away with it all my life (getting away)
However I look it's clear to see
That I love you more than you love me
I hate that mirror, it makes me feel so worthless
I'm an original sinner but when I'm with you I couldn't care less
I've been getting away with it all my life
Getting away with it all my life
I thought I gave up falling in love a long long time ago
I guess I like it but I can't tell you, you shouldn't really know
And it's been true all my life
Yes, it's been true all my life
I've been talking to myself just to suggest that I'm selfish
(Getting ahead)
I've been trying to impress that more is less and I'm repressed
(I should do what he said)

Getting away with it...

As is the excellent "Miserabilism". It's a point of view all too common that bands who aren't afraid to dress up and be lighthearted are somehow insignificant or have less of a capability of being meaningful than those who proclaim to be so very "deep". "Miserabilism", however, is aimed more at the baggy period bands, because, as we all know, Morrissey's lyrics have always been infused with a deep wit and love of pop.

I think if Neil had've been more involved in Electronic they would have been a bit better. As much as I love Bernard and Johhny, both were entering the nadir of their respective careers (of which Johhny has yet to climb out of). Neil has never had one... OK, maybe Release was a bit rubbish, but not totally awful.

I generally like Electronic, particularly the songs Bernard sings.......dont care that much for Neils voice.

okay

yeah they are okay but not more than that.

the Smiths, Joy Division, New Order and TheThe are much better.

was really disappointed when i read this in the nme because i thought it was going to be new stuff. best of sucks. i have the albums already!
