How is he not completely bored by fans by now?

I was at a festival last weekend and there were some band members hanging around watching the comedy before the music started at the side of the stage, it was calm and lovely and fun to be in their circle for a few minutes sharing a laugh. These stupid f***ing fan girls spotted them and sat down and immediately started taking pictures. I was so embarrassed because I am sadly stuck as one of the stupid fangirls that I got up and left, and the band sensed it was happening and got up and left, completely ruined the moment. Fans are like lice.

How do you know Morrissey's band are you friends with them?

I think that you are wrong to say that Morrissey's fans are like "lice". What is different about a "fan girl" as you put it or a "groupie" or just a regular fan? Are you female or male?

Frosty, you probably mean a handshake in a non-concert environment, and from what I recall reading about your dedication to his shows over the years, you likely know a bit about this..... but for others:

It’s a good handshake, such as it is. I’ve seen Moz 61 times, from all vantage points in venues large, medium, and small. Thrice I’ve found myself within reach (from the audience - I’ve never hurled myself onstage) and have managed to obtain his outreached hand. He really grabs on and gives a good squeeze. 2 seconds feels like 2 minutes. If he selects your hand, he commits.

Its a nicely written piece that will resonate with those fans that are still around, and bring back ice memories to those ex-fans that have left the ship, if they read it. It serves Morrissey well, as he seems to try to win some fans back. I don't see why that should upset some of us though.

I think anyone who is a devoted fan of someone will recognise these sentiments. Even if we know the person to have flaws we are so deeply attached to them we manage to push away away concerns by becoming more defensive and obsessed.

There wouldn't have been such a media hoo haa if security hadn't escorted Moz off stage mid song like a grandad who just pissed in a plant pot at a family gathering.

To be fair, it was 1 of 8 shows at the Palladium. Two were cancelled due to "plumbing issues" at the venue.
