Morrissey Central "Don’t forget me." (May 7, 2023)

For six to eight weeks each spring, the ice floes of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the eastern coast of Newfoundland and Labrador turn bloody, as some 300,000 harp seal pups, virtually all between 2 and 12 weeks old, are beaten to death–their skulls crushed with a heavy club called a hakapik–or shot.

Canada's absolutely adorable first family. Aren't they just beautiful?

I suppose he could even have been at the concert. His shoe designer, Stella McCartney, gave a little speech about saving the planet.
I'm going to assume that was sarcasm. Yeh, apparently there were a lot of designers there to spout rubbish about the sartorial finery they had chosen. There always are.

My neighbour's son set off at 6 in the morning for London on his own, couldn't see a thing the entire day and didn't get back until 1am the following day. For me to put that much effort in it would have to be something spectacular.

SER should think of Morrissey's career as a seal pup & Central as a hakapik.
Please, what a comment out of place.... Morrissey is a person to respect. Animals do not touch!!!! They are much better than many human beings.
Con los animales no se jode!!!!!!

No animals are involved - I'm just hoping at some point Central will realise they're fighting the wrong battle & losing badly.

I think someone has had a word recently? It’s noticeable that there’s been little in the way of career harming controversy for absolutely weeks.

Morrissey's musical collaborator with a girlfriend. Aren't they just beautiful?

The hunting of harp seal pups (whitecoats) and hooded seal pups (bluebacks) is illegal – and has been since 1987.

aalso of course that's coyote fur in the picture, thank you to the poster who pointed it out. i know exactly no one who owns any clothing made of seal fur or seal skin. Once in a first nation's store I saw some seal skin moccasins but that's it. It would be unheard of (not to mention, dated) to wear a seal fur coat. But yeah, moz, we're all down here in canada clad head to toe in baby seal.

It's irrelevant, isn't it? It's still some poor animal's fur they're wearing.

PS: Can't believe you quoted the Canadian sealers association...

Given that the photo of the Trudeau family is from 2010 and the little kids (now teenagers) presumably had little choice in what they were wearing (which isn't even seal as has been said in this thread) I would have preferred Central to make a statement on how Canada's Prime Minister supports the seal killing these days, especially how his government subsidises the industry and promotes exports of the pelts.
