I wonder why she waited so long to tell the authorities this? Better late than never I guess. Seems a little strange though.
 
actually, it might have been myra's brother in law, david smith. ian wanted to bring david into the fold as an accomplice, but their first attempt together was bungled terribly. later, ian tried again, having myra invite david over. when he arrived, ian was hacking a boy to death. david helped dispose of the body, but was so freaked out that he told his wife and they called the police. when myra and ian were picked up, one of the two claimed "it was the smiths." this has since become a rumored source for the name of your favorite band and mine (key word being "rumored"). anyway, i think it very likely that the fellow this woman is referring to was david smith, if her story is to be believed anyhow. it certainly fits the bungled kidnaping scenario of the first time david and ian "worked" together.
